Singer Vehicle Design has never been known for restraint, at least when it comes to craftsmanship, detail, and the art of transforming a classic Porsche 911 into something extraordinary. Now the California-based specialist has teamed up with Louis Vuitton for a pair of 964-generation Porsche 911 commissions that push Singer’s already obsessive approach even further into the luxury world. The collaboration includes a naturally aspirated Singer Classic coupe and a turbocharged Classic Turbo Cabriolet, each combining Singer’s mechanical expertise with unmistakable Louis Vuitton colors, materials, and design touches.
The Singer Classic is the more colorful of the pair, wearing a striking combination of saffron, cobalt blue, and yellow inspired by Louis Vuitton’s signature palette. It also gets a roof rack designed to carry everything from custom luggage to skis or a surfboard, reinforcing the French fashion house’s long-running association with travel. Underneath the elaborate presentation is the sort of hardware that has made Singer famous. Its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six produces 420 horsepower, sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Carbon-ceramic brakes and the carefully developed chassis complete a package that should be every bit as satisfying to drive as it is to stare at.
The Classic Turbo Cabriolet takes a more understated visual approach, although understated is certainly relative here. Finished in a limestone-inspired white with gold accents and rich wood detailing, it was conceived with Louis Vuitton Artistic Director Nicolas Ghesquière and has a distinctly elegant character. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, carbon-ceramic brakes, and selectable driving modes. Singer has not emphasized a final output figure for this particular commission, but the company’s more powerful Classic Turbo specification is capable of around 510 horsepower, giving the open-top car plenty of performance to match its exotic presentation.
It is inside where the Louis Vuitton influence becomes impossible to overlook. A removable Tambour clock sits prominently in the dashboard and takes inspiration from the luxury brand’s well-known watch collection, while the instrumentation itself reportedly required roughly a year of collaboration to perfect. There is also a matching 40mm Tambour Automatic watch along with custom luggage shaped specifically for the Porsche’s front trunk. The experience extends far beyond the car, with specially created clothing and accessories including driving gloves, a made-to-measure suit, shoes, sunglasses, and even a helmet. Details such as patterned leather, carefully finished trim, and Louis Vuitton touches on the keys turn the entire commission into something closer to a complete luxury collection than a conventional restomod.
Perhaps the most interesting part of the collaboration is how naturally the two companies fit together. Singer and Louis Vuitton operate in very different worlds, but both have built their reputations around craftsmanship, personalization, heritage, and making expensive objects feel intensely special. A Singer 911 already occupies a space where automobile, design object, and collectible overlap, so adding Louis Vuitton’s expertise in leatherwork, fashion, luggage, and watchmaking almost seems inevitable. These cars are less about adding logos to a Porsche and more about seeing what happens when two brands with similarly obsessive standards approach the same object from different directions.
Neither Singer nor Louis Vuitton has announced pricing for the two cars, and that may be beside the point for the customers involved. Singer commissions have long occupied the upper reaches of the Porsche restomod world, and the additional bespoke work involved here suggests these examples will sit comfortably among the company’s most valuable creations. More importantly, they show just how far the restomod movement has evolved. What started as a desire to make an old 911 drive better has become an arena for bespoke engineering, fashion, art, and luxury, and few collaborations illustrate that transformation quite as dramatically as Singer and Louis Vuitton.
