Lamborghini’s Excuse For Avoiding A Revuelto SV ‘Ring Lap Sounds Like A Cop Out

The Lamborghini Revuelto SV had a grand debut during this year’s Monterey Car Week. The model is the brand’s new performance flagship, making the standard version of the hybrid supercar faster and sharper. With 1,065 horsepower and 1,051 pound-feet of torque on tap, many folks might expect Lamborghini to have a Nürburgring record-lap attempt in the works. But this situation is, as they say, complicated.

Taking the Revuelto SV to the ‘Ring seems obvious, because Lamborghini already sent the Aventador SVJ around the Green Hell in 2018 and clocked an impressive time of 6 minutes, 44.97 seconds. Meanwhile, in 2016, the Huracan Performante lapped the circuit in 6:52.01.

Plus, Lambo even tested the Revuelto SV around the ‘Ring earlier in 2026 and dressed the car in a unique wrap with the message: “Attenzione. Macchina Veloce” on the sides and roof. The company wouldn’t have put such a bold statement on the vehicle if it hadn’t expected others to see it.

However, despite showing plenty of familiarity with the circuit, Lamborghini won’t be taking the Revuelto SV to the ‘Ring for a record attempt, at least anytime soon. Speaking to MotorTrend, Revuelto Product Line Director Alessandro Farmeschi, said: “We use Nürburgring for testing. We chose Hockenheimring because…the point is we wanted to give our customers a reference point that could also be replicated by [them]. Nürburgring is a bit of a peculiar circuit.” Farmeschi also indicated that Hockenheim’s shorter length and lower difficulty level made it more accessible.

At 2.842 miles in its current grand-prix configuration, the Hockenheimring is far shorter than the 12.94-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife. And it’s true that average customers could never have an open track at the Nordschleife like automakers get for ‘Ring record attempts. The Nordschleife loop is also extremely long, making it an extremely difficult course to master. But still, Lamborghini has bragged about ‘Ring attempts in its not-so-distant past.

Before the Revuelto SV’s premiere, the company took one to Hockenheim and completed a lap in 1:41.6. The automaker touted the result as a production car lap record there. However, there are faster road-legal vehicles around the circuit, even if their production statuses are debatable. The McLaren Senna completed a lap in 1:40.79, and the Mercedes-AMG One did it in 1:38.563.

    Understanding The Revuelto SV

The Revuelto SV has lots of headline-grabbing numbers. Supercar shoppers will find the standard model’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 under the engine cover, producing 814 horsepower by itself and capable of revving to 9,500 rpm. The most significant powertrain changes involve the three electric motors, which have 50 more hp versus the normal Revuelto. The SV can reach 62 mph in 2.4 seconds and 124 mph in 6.7 seconds. Lambo reports the top speed is over 214 mph.

The SV’s suspension includes manually adjustable shocks derived from the GT3-class race car. Lambo even advises buyers on optimal setups for various tracks so they can get the most out of their supercar around a circuit. Stopping comes courtesy of CCM-R-Plus carbon-ceramic brake rotors that measure 16.53 inches up front.

The car’s meaner appearance comes courtesy of a new carbon-fiber front bumper, rear wing, side extensions, and other aerodynamic elements. Together, these elements give the SV 80% more downforce than the older Aventador SVJ.

Inside, the SV prioritizes being lightweight over occupant comfort. The door panels are lighter than the standard ones. There are also a set of bolstered sport seats and lots of carbon-fiber trim. Faux suede upholstery covers the cabin. A Pilota driving mode for use on the track takes advantage of a five-stage traction control system from the GT3 car. The system is smart enough to tweak things based on tire wear and track conditions.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

This situation raises the immediate question of why Lamborghini wouldn’t take the Revuelto SV around the ‘Ring for a fast lap. Record attempts at the Green Hell are far more about marketing and bragging rights than actually setting the quickest run in a given category. Lamborghini is only making 1,963 examples of the SV, and the company is probably not struggling to find buyers for them. Perhaps the automaker sees no point in trying if the announcement would have no effect on its bottom line.

Or perhaps Lamborghini is worried about its 1,065-horsepower supercar failing to beat the Ford Mustang GTD Competition, which posted a time of 6:40.83.
