Luxeed, the EV brand co-developed by Huawei and Chery (HKEX: 9973), is accelerating the expansion of its product lineup with a new model set to debut this fall.
Luxeed teased the vehicle on Weibo on Wednesday, announcing the model will be named RX.
Huawei executive director Richard Yu later said in a Weibo post that the car will be the first under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) to break away from traditional numerical naming conventions, adding that it will make its debut in the fall.
A teaser video released by Luxeed shows the RX featuring a sporty coupe design.
The vehicle is equipped with a prominent LiDAR bump on its roof and a front fascia bearing what is expected to be an illuminated Luxeed brand logo.
The overall body utilizes a sleek fastback profile, complemented by a full-width taillight strip.
Luxeed’s current lineup includes the S7 sedan, the R7 coupe SUV, and the V9 multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), with the MPV model having launched last month.
In April, local media outlet 36Kr reported that Luxeed was planning a coupe model aimed at delivering extreme performance.
The vehicle may be sent to Germany’s renowned Nürburgring Nordschleife track to challenge a host of foreign luxury supercars, according to the report.
The move aligns with the strategy of performance-oriented automakers like Xiaomi EV, aiming to build a premium, high-performance brand image among consumers through Nürburgring lap times, the report noted.
Luxeed is an EV brand jointly created by Huawei and Chery Automobile. The roll-out of these new models indicates the brand is accelerating its product iteration to stay competitive in China’s crowded EV market.
The brand plans to solidify its market foundation in 2026 and aims to achieve an annual sales target of one million units by 2030, an executive said earlier this year.
The updated R7 and S7 feature upgraded autonomous driving technology, coming just seven months after their last refresh.
