Fiat Topolino Officially Goes on Sale in the U.S. as a Tiny $14,985 Electric Runabout : Automotive Addicts

Fiat has officially opened U.S. sales for the Topolino, and it may be the cutest new vehicle you can buy in America, even if calling it a car requires a little legal flexibility. Priced at $14,985, the tiny electric runabout arrives as a playful alternative to golf carts, neighborhood EVs, and resort shuttles, giving Fiat a second electric offering in the U.S. alongside the 500e. It is small, simple, slow, and clearly not trying to be anything else.

The Topolino will be offered in two versions, both wearing the same Verde Vita green paint and retro 14-inch wheel covers. The standard Topolino gets asymmetrical doors hinged on opposite sides and a panoramic glass roof, while the Topolino Dolce Vita trades the doors for rope barriers and adds a roll-up soft top. Inside, the cabin is intentionally minimal, with a digital gauge cluster, phone holder, USB-C port, and just enough charm to make the whole thing feel more like a Mediterranean vacation accessory than a traditional commuter vehicle.

The specs are just as tiny as the footprint. The Topolino measures only 99.6 inches long, 56.4 inches wide, and 61.2 inches tall, with a curb weight of 1,073 pounds. A front-mounted electric motor produces just 8 horsepower, while a 5.4-kWh battery provides up to 46 miles of range. Top speed is limited to 19 mph at launch, and charging takes about five hours using a 2.3-kW AC connection.

There is one important catch for American buyers: the Topolino will not initially be street legal. Fiat says early use will be limited to private property, gated communities, resorts, yacht clubs, beach towns, festivals, and similar low-speed settings. A Low Speed Vehicle conversion kit is expected by the end of summer 2026, and Fiat says it will be included at no additional cost. That kit will add equipment such as a rearview mirror, backup camera, and pedestrian alert system while raising the top speed to 25 mph, allowing it to be driven on certain public roads where local laws permit.

Limited quantities of the 2026 Fiat Topolino will be sold through select dealers, with online ordering available now through Fiat’s website using a $2,500 deposit. It will not replace a normal car, and it certainly is not built for highways or long commutes. But for short, sunny, low-speed trips where personality matters more than horsepower, the Topolino might be one of the most charming new EVs to arrive in America.
