The Daily Brief wraps up the biggest stories and our exclusive reporting on the auto industry and car culture.

The Ferrari F355, among other desirable and less-desirable vehicles, will being making its Gran Turismo 7 debut when the first half of the game’s big Spec IV update lands October 15.

Today we got a peek at the next content drop, thanks to a trailer and some footage shared during the game’s esports livestream this weekend out of Singapore. Competitors raced at Sugo—a new track that will also debut in GT7 in October—and it looks fantastic. Sugo’s a personal favorite of mine, and the F355 has some gaming history there, as the track was also prominently featured in Sega’s Ferrari F355 Challenge, a game I’ve written about here a few times. Hopefully, there will be solid customization options in GT Auto for players to turn this ’94 model into its competition counterpart.

This update—1.72, for those counting—will also bring a 1987 Honda Civic Si Group A race car, 2023 Honda Step Wgn (that’s not a typo), 1986 Citroën 2CV6 Charleston (one of the final iterations of the legendary French economy car), an evolved version of the Mazda RX Vision GT3 race car, and Xiaomi’s Vision Gran Turismo car, which was revealed some time ago but still isn’t playable in the game yet.

Introducing the “Gran Turismo 7” Spec IV Update Part 1 – October 2026

If you played GT4, you’ll remember that Group A Civic and its iconic Motul livery. Its 220 horsepower and sub-2,000-pound curb weight should make it a blast, especially around a relatively short, old-school track like Sugo. This particular car won its class in the 1987 All-Japan Touring Car Championship.

As far as new features, the livestream gave us a peek at Spec IV’s new Car Viewer feature, that lets you stage vehicles easily, straight from the Garage menu, against a variety of backgrounds, and take pictures. There’s also the Car Concierge, allowing you to purchase rare cars you previously had to wait to come across in the used or Legends lots. You can see both in action in the timestamped YouTube video embedded below.

It appears that the concierge allows you to choose between higher- and lower-mileage examples of vehicles (I’m not exactly sure why you’d be concerned about that, but this is Gran Turismo, after all) in whatever color you prefer. The penalty to buying cars this way, rather than from those limited-time sellers, is that you will definitely spend more money, and you will have to wait some time to take delivery. One example shown was the 1955 Mercedes W196—one of the priciest cars in GT7, normally offered for 20 million credits—now going for 20,780,000 Cr., and requiring seven days to arrive. Convenience evidently has its price.

The second phase of the Spec IV drop is due for December, and that one will bring a revitalized Autumn Ring, a fan-favorite, classic GT fictional circuit. Personally I’m very curious how that one will manifest, given the changes made to Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, and especially Grand Valley Speedway for GT7, but we’ll have to wait a little longer before we get any insight on that front.
