Nobody, and we mean nobody, likes to step outside and find their car has been damaged. That goes for auto enthusiasts as well as everyday folks who simply rely on their car for daily transportation. Few things are as infuriating as finding splattered eggs or key marks on your old $3,000 Honda Civic, never mind a cracked fascia or scuff marks on your $30,000 Miata from a careless parking-lot encounter.

Imagine, then, the feeling of walking outside and finding your $3 million Koenigsegg Gemera – a vehicle you just got a few weeks prior – with busted glass all over the place.

Six Years In The Making, Ruined In A Few Seconds

Just to refresh your memory, Koenigsegg has taken its sweet time getting the Gemera to production. Originally announced in early 2020, it’s billed as a hypercar the whole family can enjoy thanks to its four-seat configuration. And it definitely puts the hyper in hypercar, thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 making 1,500 high-revving horsepower. But that’s only half of the Gemera’s powertrain. A “Dark Matter” E-motor adds another 800 hp to the mix, combining for a maximum output of 2,300 hp. That’s quite the family car.

Only 300 are slated for production, and after six years, the first Gemera was finally delivered at a special event in late June. Finished in an eyeball-searing red called Johan Röd, the car has reportedly been seen in recent weeks gallivanting around Denmark. Frankly, it’s nice to see a car like this actually being used as intended. Apparently, others didn’t see it that way.

Why Was It Parked Outside In The First Place?

According to an Instagram post from Stenders Garage, the Gemera was parked outside the Hotel d’Angleterre, a luxury hotel in Denmark’s capital city of Copenhagen. It’s unknown exactly what the alleged vandal (or vandals) used to damage the car, but pictures (embedded in the Instagram post below) show the windshield and side window smashed. There is reported damage to the mirrors as well, and there could be some paint damage on the door, though what we’re seeing could be bits of smashed glass.

Presumably, the owner was staying at the hotel. It’s surprising that such a place doesn’t have secure parking, but whatever the reason, it was left outside the hotel overnight. According to commenters in a Reddit post, the car has been traveling around Denmark for a few weeks with temporary dealer registration plates from Sweden. That checks out since the car was delivered in Sweden, but as Carscoops points out, there are allegedly quite a few people in Denmark upset about the whole situation. Taxes are apparently a sticky issue in the region, and someone driving around a $3 million hypercar with temporary registration from Sweden is, in a word, infuriating. To thicken the plot further, the June event marked the delivery to the selling dealer, not the specific owner. Apparently, that person is from Denmark and only got the car in the last couple of weeks, which could fuel some of the hatred about taxes popping up on social media. Still, trashing someone’s car is never a solution to such things, be it a Koenigsegg or a Kia.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Friends, there’s a lot of anger in the world right now. Political views, class division, wage inequality, oppression, discrimination, pick your topic. We have no idea who owns this car, but if they can afford it, they probably don’t face the same kind of problems or frustrations the average person does. Or, maybe they deal with things the average person never even considers. Each situation is unique. But violence and destruction are never the answer. This car will be repaired, the owner will continue living their lifestyle, the world goes on, nothing changes. Angry about something? Make your situation better, not someone’s car worse.A police investigation is ongoing, but no suspects have been identified thus far.
