Finally, we have something to say about Chrysler beyond speculating if the brand can survive with just one vehicle, the Pacifica minivan. Truth is, the Pacifica is a good and successful minivan, carrying on a 42-year legacy started by the former Chrysler Corp. with the pioneering Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager in the fall of 1983. But at some point this year, we can’t help wondering if Pacifica binge-watched the Deadpool trilogy.

That’s because this family-friendly hauler now has an ad campaign that might not be so family-friendly. But like Deadpool, it may grab your attention, and might even help sell some Pacifica minivans to good-natured, fun-loving folks who appreciate salty humor jam-packed with innuendo, but that never really crosses a line.

    Let’s Keep It Clean, Folks

Chrysler’s new “Acronyms” campaign is simple and effective, consisting of three humorous videos telling people what STFU, IDGAF, and FML really mean. Well, not what they really, really mean. Chrysler isn’t dropping F-bombs in the name of sales, but if you don’t follow social media slang and have to consult the Google Machine to uncover the real meaning, consider yourself warned. It’s okay, Chrysler will still sell you a minivan.

Advertising partner GSDM (that’s an actual company, not internet lingo, as far as we know) created the digital and social media spots in partnership with Chrysler, and the point was to redefine those popular acronyms in terms that minivan owners and passengers would recognize, and then chuckle.

    It’s All About The Minivan

For instance, the 30-second STFU spot highlights, in alphabetical order, of course, the Pacifica for its Stow n’ Go seats, Total glow up, y’all, Freakin’ love vacuumin’, and Upgraded wiggle room. Best thing about this spot is, the clueless dweeb of a neighbor now believes that STFU applies to the features of a world-class minivan.

The 15-second IDGAF spot features two very different moms, and one of them refuses to be judged by the other for how she parked her Pacifica. Standing with arms crossed and leaning against the front fender, the sassy lady proudly declares, “In my new Pacifica, I‘m Driving Greatness And Function.” Apparently spellcheck didn’t want “Functionality.” What the … heck is that about?

    The Moody Teen

The teenage daughter who had a two-second cameo in that spot goes on to star in the third FML spot as she hauls her gear to the Pacifica after practice. At the curb, the disaffected teen disses the minivan in front of her friends, as if that’s cool, but once she’s inside, she’s praising it on the downlow. “I’m Free to lounge in the back, My phone’s fully juiced, Low key I kinda like this.”

Is it eye-rolling? Yes. Does it grab attention compared to another dog rides in car video, or dad driving the family to the beach for beach tomfoolery? We found it humorous enough to talk about, and though we know Deadpool prefers Honda Odysseys, we wouldn’t be surprised if the IDGAF superhero tells the world to STFU about his Pacifica in the next film.

But, does Chrysler really need advertising like this? The Pacifica has been America’s best-selling minivan for four consecutive years, reaching 110,006 customers in 2025 alone. But the No.2 Toyota Sienna is closing in, at 101,486 minivans, up 35.2% in 2025. Also charting sales growth are the Honda Odyssey (88,462 sales in 2025, +10.2%) and the Kia Carnival (71,917 units, +45%).

And lest we forget, Chrysler’s best-selling vehicle is also its only-selling vehicle. The company can’t afford to fall behind, especially since the restyled 2027 Pacifica is still the same old model from 2017 under that sharper face. FML, indeed.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Marketing catchphrases are the essential language for communicating messages about cars, how they will perform, what they represent, and how they can make your life better. Generations of advertising methods and themes have come and gone throughout automotive history, but the best messages are timeless and will be quoted for decades after the fact.

Chrysler’s “Acronyms” campaign, with tongue firmly in cheek, speaks directly to minivan drivers as well as passengers, who are bound to be the next target audience for marketing minivans. And they might utter a few choice words along the way.
