Chevy Will Lease You a Real Midsize Truck For Less Than Ford Charges For A Maverick

There are Ford fans who will never buy a Chevy, and Chevy fans who will never buy a Ford. If you’re flexible, though, Chevrolet’s latest lease offer on a Colorado work truck may be a tie-breaker when selecting a new pickup. You can claim yours for as little as $229/mo.

Chevy Is Starting Q4 With Some Attractive Lease Deals

The most attractive deal available right now will have you paying just $299 per month for 24 months. Here’s how that works out.

    • $299/mo for 24 months
    • $2,589 up front
    • Qualified lessees only
    • Offer available on a 2026 Colorado Crew Cab 2WD Work Truck with WT Custom Package
    • Deal is good until November 4, 2026
    • 20,000 mile limit

Then you’ve got a similar deal for $229 a month, with $5,511 due at signing. If you’re a GM employee, or an eligible family member, and if you’re already leasing a Chevy, you can claim the $229 deal with just $2,439 in up-front costs.

If we want to compare these deals, here’s how the math breaks down, before taxes, titling, and so on. Bear in mind that the first monthly payment is included in the signing costs.

    Monthly Payment

    $299

    $229

    Signing Costs

    $2,589

    $5,511

    23 Monthly Payments

    $6,877

    $5,267

    Total Lease Cost

    $9,536

    $10,778

The $299 deal is actually $1,312 cheaper than the $239 deal, but the money is spread out over 24 payments, where the $229 deal has you paying more up front. The fine print mentions an offer to purchase at the end of the lease, but at a price “to be determined.” So you’ll have to cross that bridge when you get it.

Chevy Has Ford Beat By $100 This October

    2025-ford-maverick-exterior-2-1Ford

The best lease deal Ford has going on a Ford Maverick right now will have you paying $399 a month for 36 months. Let’s break that one down.

    • $399/mo for 36 months
    • $1,398 due at signing
    • Qualified lessees only
    • Offer available on a 2026 Maverick XLT FWD Hybrid
    • Offer good until January 1, 2027
    • 31,500 mile limit

The Chevy deal is obviously going to be easier on the checkbook, month after month, but the math gets a little tricky when you consider that you are only spending $1,398 at signing, and you get to keep the truck for 36 months.

35 payments (the first one is included in the up-front costs) plus $1,398 due at signing comes out to $15,363. Here’s how that comes out if we’re looking at what we’re spending each year on these deals.

    Lease Deal

    Annual Lease Expense

    Colorado at $229/mo

    $5,389

    Maverick at $399/mo

    $5,121

    Colorado at $299/mo

    $4,733

The Maverick sits smack-dab in the middle as the second-best offer of the three, with the $299/mo Colorado deal being the best incentive for the month of October.

Ford And Chevy Are Both Financing Their Trucks At 4.9% APR

Ford and Chevrolet both seem more interested in leasing these trucks than financing them, as neither automaker is beating 4.9% APR this month. The biggest difference is that Chevrolet gives you 75 months to pay off the truck at that rate, while Ford cuts you off at 60 months.

Here’s how a Colorado purchase at 4.9% APR compares to the same purchase at a national average APR of 6.3%.

    MSRP

    $35,640

    APR

    4.9%

    6.3%

    Monthly Payment

    $553

    $576

    Total Paid To Interest

    $5,808

    $7,568

    Total Cost

    $41,448

    $43,208

At these rates, well-qualified buyers will be saving $1,760 at the end of six years and three months. Our numbers assume no down payment, and we haven’t taken taxes, titling, and other costs into account. In other words, your mileage may vary.

Unlike the lease deal, the purchase offer does not specify any particular trim. The offer is good until November 4, 2026, and there’s nothing in the fine print about the incentive not stacking with other offers. This means that you can claim 4.9% APR, and $1,000 in bonus cash on anything but a Trail Boss or a ZR2.

You Can Save 48% On A Used Pickup

If you’re happy to buy a used truck, our price-tracking tool sees a 2021 Colorado 4WD Crew Cab ZR2 trending at just $22,910 from an MSRP of $44,200. This means the truck has lost nearly half its value in five short years. Here are a few listings we can dig up in our own marketplace with below 60,000 miles on the odometer.

    • A 2022 LT is selling for $25,995 in Florida.
    • A 2022 LT is selling for $24,495 in Virginia.
    • A 2022 Z71 is selling for $24,900 in Arizona.
    • A 2022 LT is selling for $29,400 in Idaho.
    • A 2021 Work Truck is selling for $22,999 in Michigan.
    • A 2021 LT is selling for just $19,999 in New Jersey.

These listings are provided just to give you an idea of what’s out there. There’s no telling what will be available in your area when you’re ready to buy.

What these numbers tell us is that it’s not hard to find a Colorado with low-ish miles in the $20,000 range. The base engine in a 2021 model is a 2.5-liter Ecotec power plant, which is considered a step up from the less reliable 2.4-liter Ecotec it replaced, so it’s a fairly dependable truck if you can find one that’s been well-kept.

The Ford Maverick, meanwhile, is still waiting on that first big depreciation drop. A base 2022 model is actually trending above MSRP right now, at $21,752 from a sticker price of $20,995. If you’re buying a Maverick, there’s no good reason to go with a used model right now.
