The biggest car news and reviews, no BS

Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday.

If local campgrounds breed rivalries between RV owners looking to one-up each other, then the Formula 1 paddock is the ultimate battleground for those who love to boast about their lavish rolling accommodations. Because if you think slideouts are cool, then wait until you see three-level motorhomes complete with designer interiors, bespoke furniture, and enough tech to rival a billionaire’s mansion.

Welcome to the world of F1, where it’s not enough to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on developing, maintaining, and racing two cars across the globe; you have to do it all with style. Most of these facilities range from about 2,000 to over 3,000 square feet and take anywhere from 12 to over 24 hours to assemble and disassemble before and after a grand prix.

I snapped a photo of each rolling HQ as I walked around the paddock at Silverstone this weekend. This year’s units technically first appeared in Monaco two races ago, but some layouts are a bit different here because there’s more room to work with than in the municipality’s cramped streets. Ferrari has two massive units that easily dwarf any other setup, though Cadillac’s and McLaren’s buildings are also massive and downright lovely. These will be used just for the European leg of the season, which concludes in Azerbaijan at the end of September.

    Which one’s your favorite?

    Red Bull Racing & VCARB

The Red Bull empire’s massive warehouse-style travel trailer may lack architectural design, but the interior is just what you’d expect from a Red Bull facility: modern, edgy, and loud.

    Ferrari

    Sleek, red, makes a statement.

    Audi

Looks like a tank—or its new Nuvolari supercar. You choose.

The new kid on the block is also the fanciest. Watch the video below for a tour courtesy of Cassidy Towriss.

    McLaren

A rather impressive setup complete with a lovely rooftop terrace.

    Toto, are you home?

    HAAS F1

Just like their baby pit wall stand, Haas believes that less is more.

    Aston Martin

Kinda cool, kinda bland. Very hot (inside).

    Williams F1

I like the simplicity of it. Pretty straightforward, just like James Vowles.

    FIA & F1

Both F1’s governing body and its commercial rights holder need a place to work and to host guests. Not too shabby.
