BYD released the first images of the Da Han, a new flagship luxury electric sedan equipped with its ultra-fast Flash Charging.

When is BYD launching the Da Han flagship EV?

BYD is going on the offensive. As part of a slew of new vehicles equipped with its new Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging system, the automaker is preparing to introduce another flagship EV.

The Da Han (Great Han) is the first D-segment flagship sedan under BYD’s Dynasty lineup. It’s expected to launch in the third quarter as a sibling to the Da Tang (Great Tang) SUV.

After opening preorders for the Da Tang (Great Tang) at the Beijing Auto Show in April, Lu Tian, general manager of BYD’s Dynasty series, said that the Great Tang (Datang) had received over 100,000 preorders ahead of its official launch later this month.

Following the flagship three-row SUV, BYD will introduce a sedan version. Tian offered the first official look at the new luxury EV on Sunday, describing the Han as “A spacious and luxurious D-segment sedan” with the caption #BYDDynastyFirstDSegmentFlagshipSedan.

While BYD has yet to reveal any other details about the new flagship EV, we do know it will use the company’s new Blade Batteries and Flash Charging tech.

In one of the images, the new model is shown plugged in at one of BYD’s Flash Charging stations. Capable of delivering up to 1,500 kW, the new stations enable vehicles equipped with the new tech to recharge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes.

For a full recharge, or 10% to 97%, it takes only 9 minutes, or about 30% to 50% faster than the average EV.

Like the SUV, the Han sedan is expected to be available in purely electric and plug-in hybrid (DM-i) powertrains.

With its new Blade Batteries, the Da Tang SUV offers a pure-electric CLTC driving range of up to 950 km (590 miles). It’s available with single and dual-motor powertrains. The single-motor variant delivers up to 370 kW (496 hp), while the dual-motor version delivers a combined 585 kW (784 hp).

The interior will likely look much the same as the SUVs, with plenty of digital screens and premium extras like zero-gravity reclining seats and a built-in refrigerator.

Presale prices for the Da Tang SUV start at 250,000 yuan ($37,000) in China, so the sedan will likely be around the same, if not slightly less.

BYD is expected to launch the Da Han in Q3 2026, so we should learn more soon. Check back for updates.
