- Denza N8L flash-charging edition is officially priced from 319,800 yuan ($47,210), below the previously announced pre-sales price.
- The plug-in hybrid SUV is equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery, and claims it can charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes.
BYD (HKEX: 1211) launched the N8L flash-charging edition under its premium brand Denza on Tuesday, further deepening its presence in the high-end market.
The large six-seat plug-in hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle) comes in two variants, with starting prices of 319,800 yuan ($47,120) and 349,800 yuan, respectively. The official prices are below the pre-sales price that started at 350,000 yuan when pre-sales began in April.
Deliveries of the N8L flash-charging edition begin today. The model replaces the standard version, which was originally launched in October 2025.
Customers who purchase before July 31 can also enjoy optional equipment benefits worth up to 53,000 yuan.
The vehicle measures 5,200 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm, and adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat layout.
At the core of this upgrade are the 800-volt high-voltage flash charging platform and BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery with a capacity of 75.26 kWh.
Official data shows that, using BYD’s dedicated flash charging piles, the vehicle can charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes.
Even in extreme cold of minus 30 degrees Celsius, the charging time increases by only 3 minutes.
The model has a CLTC all-electric range of 430 km, and a combined range of 1,550 km on a full tank and full charge.
The N8L flash-charging edition is powered by a 2.0T plug-in hybrid-dedicated engine and a tri-motor system, with the engine delivering a maximum power of 152 kW and a combined system output of 560 kW. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds.
The new vehicle comes standard with BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 advanced driver-assistance system, powered by a single Nvidia Orin-X chip with 254 TOPS of computing power. Its perception hardware includes one LiDAR unit and 30 other sensors.
The system covers functions including highway navigation, urban navigation and full-scenario automatic parking, and provides official liability coverage for urban intelligent driving.
The vehicle also adopts the e3 intelligent vehicle control platform and is equipped with the DiSus-A intelligent air body control system. These technologies support unique functions such as extreme steering, intelligent crab walking and compass-style turning.
For the interior, the new vehicle features a six-screen linked system, including a 50-inch AR-HUD head-up display and a 17.3-inch central control screen. The seats are made of NAPPA leather and offer heating, ventilation and massage functions.
The launch of the N8L flash-charging edition reflects BYD’s strategy of continuously updating existing models with the latest technology to enhance product competitiveness.
The model targets the family vehicle market, with key rivals including the Li L8 from Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) and the Huawei-backed Aito M8.
Denza has accelerated the pace of product updates this year to cope with intensifying market competition. Last month, the brand had just launched the flash-charging edition of its flagship SUV, the N9, starting at 409,800 yuan.
Denza sold 16,303 vehicles in May, up 3.14% year-on-year and up 44.92% from April, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

However, from January to May this year, Denza sold a cumulative 46,189 vehicles, down 27.88% year-on-year. The brand still faces pressure to reverse its sales slump.
Denza was originally established in 2010 as a 50-50 joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz. BYD has since gradually increased its stake, turning it into a wholly owned subsidiary in September 2024.
The Denza N9 flash charging edition will be officially launched on May 18.
