- BYD dominated China’s NEV export market in June with 170,897 units shipped, while Tesla China exported 36,171 units.
- In the overall passenger vehicle export market, Chery ranked first in June with a 21.4% share, followed closely by BYD and Geely.
BYD (HKEX: 1211) was China’s largest passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) exporter in June, while Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) China came in fourth, posting strong year-on-year growth.
BYD’s passenger NEV exports reached 170,897 units in June, up 98.8% year-on-year and 9.6% month-on-month. The company ranked first in the NEV export market with a commanding 34.2% share.
The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) disclosed these figures in a monthly sales ranking report on Thursday.
Chery (HKEX: 9973) ranked second in June with NEV exports of 73,819 units, up 177.8% year-on-year and 18.3% month-on-month. It held a 14.8% share of NEV exports.
Geely Auto (HKEX: 0175) ranked third with NEV exports of 61,550 units, soaring 713.2% year-on-year and rising 54.6% month-on-month. It held a 12.3% share.
Tesla China ranked fourth in June with exports of 36,171 units, up 257.6% year-on-year but down 6.5% from May.
The US electric vehicle (EV) maker accounted for 7.2% of China’s passenger NEV exports in June.
Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) also maintained notable growth in June, ranking sixth with NEV exports of 21,000 units. This marked a surge of 580.7% year-on-year and 4.1% month-on-month, giving it a 4.2% share.
GWM (HKEX: 2333) ranked tenth in NEV exports with 10,469 units, up 209.5% year-on-year and 58.7% month-on-month, holding a 2.1% share.
In January-June, BYD’s NEV exports totaled 769,330 units, up 73.6% year-on-year, ranking first with a 34.5% share.

Chery’s NEV exports came to 290,301 units in January-June, up 164.4% year-on-year, ranking second with a 13.0% share.
Geely followed closely in January-June with NEV exports of 275,417 units, soaring 601.4% year-on-year, ranking third with a 12.3% share.
Tesla China exported 228,994 units over the same period, up 126.6% year-on-year. It ranked fourth with a 10.3% share.
Leapmotor exported 96,294 units in January-June, up 372.6% year-on-year, with a 4.3% share, ranking sixth.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) ranked tenth with exports of 31,599 units and a 1.4% share. Its first-half exports rose 69.0% year-on-year.

In the overall passenger vehicle export market, which includes traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, Chery ranked first in June with exports of 187,768 units, holding a 21.4% share.
Chery’s exports rose 77.9% year-on-year and 4.7% month-on-month in June.
BYD ranked second in overall passenger vehicle exports with 170,897 units and a 19.5% share.
Geely Auto ranked third in the overall passenger vehicle export ranking with exports of 102,094 units, up 155.2% year-on-year, holding an 11.6% share.
GWM ranked fifth in overall passenger vehicle exports in June with 53,341 units and a 6.1% share.
Tesla China ranked sixth with a 4.1% share, while Leapmotor ranked ninth with a 2.4% share.
In China’s overall passenger vehicle exports for January-June, Chery ranked first with exports of 931,557 units, up 70.9% year-on-year, holding a 21.9% share.
BYD ranked second in the overall passenger vehicle export market in January-June with exports of 769,330 units and an 18.1% share.
