Google may soon give one of the best features in Pixel phones a bigger spotlight. The company is working on a dedicated app for Now Playing, the built-in tool that automatically identifies songs playing nearby. This Shazam-like feature shows the song title and artist right on the lock screen and saves a history of tracks your phone has recognized. The key appeal has always been that it runs on the device, meaning songs are identified locally without sending audio clips to the cloud. For Pixel users, Now Playing currently runs as a background service tucked inside Android System Intelligence. It’s…
The biggest car news and reviews, no BS Our free daily newsletter sends the stories that really matter directly to you, every weekday. The Trump Administration’s tariffs are making new cars more expensive to buy and old ones more expensive to maintain, but there’s at least some good news about affordability. After two years of spikes, insurance rates decreased in 2025, according to a new report from Insurify, an online insurance brokerage. But that only applied to some states. Based on analysis of more than 197 million rates from partner insurance companies for drivers in the United States, Insurify found…
Autoforma has designed a stunning Volvo P1800ES shooting brake restomod. It’s available in three trims, with the bold Forward Fashionista debuting first. It has a turbocharged Volvo T5 engine, a revised suspension, and bold color options. Autoforma, a Dutch restomod design company, has introduced a stunning take on the P1800ES shooting brake from the early 1970s. The company is offering the car in three trims, starting with the Forward Fashionista—the most extreme variant. Under the hood is a Volvo’s turbocharged T5 five-cylinder engine, which pairs with a “revised transmission.” Autoforma also upgrades the brakes with improved cooling…
The wireless charging experts at WiTricity claim their newest wireless charging pad solution will eliminate the sort of, “Did I remember to charge?” worries that plague retirement communities and golf enthusiasts everywhere. Before we get too far into this, allow me to concede that the WiTricity solution is really more of a “plugless” solution than a wireless one – especially in light of the fact that I can see a wire leading from the charging “pad” to a standard 110/120V outlet in the official promo picture. That said, life on a big dealer lot has taught me that it is all…
The folks behind Jmail are at it again with a clone of Wikipedia that turns the treasure trove of data in Epstein’s emails into detailed dossiers on his associates. Entries include known visits to Epstein’s properties, possible knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, and laws that they might have broken. The reports are dense, listing how many emails they exchanged with Epstein, basic biographical information, and details about how they’re connected.Beyond that, there are entries for the properties Epstein owns, detailing how they were acquired and the alleged activities that took place there. There are also entries for his business dealings, including…
Stellantis has decided to keep diesel engines in its product portfolio in Europe. The automaker is continuing the produce diesel version of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, DS 7, and other Peugeot, Opel, and Citroën models. The company is doing this because ‘we are focused on customer demand.’ Stellantis has undergone tremendous changes over the last year. The automaker put the Hemi V8 back into the Ram 1500, discontinued Chrysler and Jeep’s plug-in hybrids, and killed Ram’s electric truck before it even hit the market. Now, the company is resurrecting—and keeping—diesel engines in Europe. The automaker told Reuters, “We have…
SUVs have taken over American roads, with minivans falling into obscurity. They used to dominate the roads for their extra space and practicality, but many customers now want a higher driving position and a car that’s capable of doing some light adventuring. All-wheel-drive minivans can provide a lot of versatility that SUVs offer but with more usable space in the cabin thanks to a shape that maximizes every dimension. With their improved traction, they can handle tricky conditions better than their FWD counterparts, giving you confidence that you’re safe when the going gets tough. There aren’t many minivans with AWD…
In a second session just before lunch, the tyres come properly into their ideal operating window and at this point the MCXtrema is balanced and superbly easy to manhandle as you wind back the vigilance of the motorsport traction control. It feels largely free of vices, although-and I suppose this is a race car thing – it never quite seems to hit a true flow state. It is a binary driving experience and this leads you to the inevitable question of whether you might well be having more fun in a properly sorted, milder-mannered track-day car like, say, a little…
Half of North American businesses lost more than one month of operational time due to supply chain disruptions over the past year, while nearly 40 per cent faced disruption-related costs of $1 million or more, according to a new global report from DP World. The report, The World Without Logistics: Global Report, examines how growing disruption, including port congestion, border delays, extreme weather and geopolitical tension, is reshaping trade strategies across the Americas. It finds companies are moving more quickly to diversify supply chains, invest in resilient infrastructure and integrate logistics operations closer to end markets. “Supply chain disruption is…
Automotive Singer is back at it, and this time the roof is gone. The California outfit’s latest project takes the 964-generation Porsche 911 Cabriolet and reimagines it into something that looks familiar at a glance but feels like a full reset once you start digging into the details. Convertibles have always been a big part of the 911 story, but anyone who has driven an older open-top car hard knows the tradeoffs. Singer’s whole mission here is to deliver that classic 911 Cabriolet vibe without the wobble, the creaks, or the sense that you are asking too much…
