A front splitter is one of the fastest ways to change how a car sits visually. It pulls the nose closer to the road, sharpens the bumper line, and makes even a stock ride height look more purposeful. The problem is that most people choose one from photos taken at car meets, then discover what it is like to own one on a Monday morning: steep driveways, speed bumps, parking blocks, and a winter of road salt. The good news is that a splitter and a daily driver can coexist perfectly well. It comes down to a handful…
The upgraded audio will debut at the US Grand Prix in Austin later this month. Apple Apple TV’s Formula 1 coverage will support Dolby Atmos, starting with the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas taking place from October 22 through October 25. Last year, Apple scored the exclusive deal for the US broadcast rights to Formula 1 racing, and its coverage started with the first grand prix weekend earlier this year. The company created a dedicated channel for it in the Apple TV app, where you can watch not just the races themselves, but also practice sessions, sprint races and…
The E-Space Concept is an all-electric reboot of Renault’s iconic minivan from the 1980’s. Renault brings back the E-Space as an EV Renault is bringing the minivan back, but this time as a fully electric people mover. With the futuristic E-Space Concept, Renault said it’s “rebooting the spirit” of the original Espace that launched in 1984. While Renault already sells the Espace as an SUV, this one will be closer to the iconic MPV from the ’80s. Renault said the “E” in E-Space refers to its E-Tech, or “Electrified Technology,” if you will. Meanwhile, “Space,” as you might guess, refers…
In 2023, Suzuki launched the Jimny 3-Door Heritage in Australia for a 300-unit run celebrating Suzuki’s rich 4×4 heritage. In the US, the Jimny was sold as the Suzuki Samurai in the 1980s, and while it was a small and relatively low-powered off-roader compared to, say, the Jeep Wrangler, it was remarkably adept and nimble and had been around since the 1970s. The Jimny is now in its fourth generation, and Suzuki has added a twist to the next 300-unit run of the Jimny Heritage. Units 301 to 600 will be sold exclusively with an automatic transmission, and Suzuki is…
Some brands specialize in a particular engine layout, like GM with its legendary V8 lineage. Other brands are defined by their signature engines. If we mention a boxer-four, we don’t even have to name the automaker who built it, do we? The layout’s history predates Subaru, but it’s Subaru, and Subaru alone, keeping it relevant. 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the 977cc EA-52’s debut in the Subaru 1000. Here’s how the modern Subie came to be. The Flat-Four Debuted In 1966 2019 Subaru Ascent 2.4-liter turbo boxer engineSubaru Subaru was founded in 1953, hitting the market with the Subaru…
My colleague Scott Einsmann over at Outdoor Life (yep, we report to the same publisher) put together an awesome list of all the best deals on compact knives, multitools, flashlights, and even portable batteries that are discounted during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days this October. Since car people need these things just as much as campers, I thought you might appreciate the best of his picks, too. I trust Einsmann’s recommendations; he’s never steered me wrong. My personal favorites from this list are Gerber knives (really good value-for-money), Fenix flashlights (robust and powerful in my experience), and, of course, Leatherman…
Spending too much time constantly sweeping and mopping? If you have the money to delegate those chores to a robot cleaner, you could save a lot of personal time. Thankfully, it’s cheaper than usual to buy a robot vacuum / mop hybrid during Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days, and some of our favorite models are discounted. The deals aren’t just for Amazon Prime members either, with other retailers like Best Buy and manufacturers getting in on the action, as well. That being said, if your floors are already squeaky clean, make sure to check out our roundup of over 100 deals…
Automotive Most of the cars on American lots today are the product of a supply chain that ignores the border. Engine blocks leave plants in the Midwest or South, stamped panels and wiring harnesses follow them into Mexico, and finished modules or complete vehicles often come back north. Behind that dependence is a constant flow of trailers: FTL freight to Mexico carries full loads of engines, stamped parts, and components across the border every day, so plants on both sides can keep building on schedule. So long as the trailers keep coming, the facilities remain open, and the…
Jaguar has unveiled the final version of its new Type 01 EV, the first car as part of its controversial rebrand, and it’s a 1,016 horsepower, four-door, 1930s-comic-book-mobster-style doozy. Jaguar made waves in late 2024 when it revealed a new concept car (the Type 00) and a controversial rebranding, changing its wordmark and design language to be radically different from anything we’ve seen from the legendary marque before – or indeed, perhaps any automotive company. Jaguar summarized the rebrand with the phrase “copy nothing,” and they seem to have hit that mark. The redesign got a lot of attention, with…
Your PC probably doesn’t need both ports, but workstations and servers can put them to work. Cofotoisme/Getty Images The two Ethernet ports on some PCs aren’t a matter of aesthetics or a simple selling point. Their primary purpose is to provide the computer with more networking options, like backup connections or separate networks. If it’s configured for failover and you lose a network connection on one, you still have access through the other. In most cases, it’s a feature that’s primarily relevant for workstations, servers or virtualization setups. Your home internet likely doesn’t go out often…
