The Hyundai Kona EV is due for an overhaul Instead of a mid-cycle refresh, Hyundai will launch an entirely new Kona, and we are already getting a closer look at it. It’s been nearly three and a half years since Hyundai introduced the second-generation Kona, debuting a new “EV-led” design that has since become a signature. Ford’s quality team must be working overtime, because in addition to the dozens of voluntary repair orders the automaker has already released this year, it is also asking owners of certain F-150 models to return to their dealers for a recall of a recall – somebody call Christopher Nolan. It seems as though some 2014 examples previously recalled for unexpected downshifting may not have had their powertrain computers reprogrammed correctly to solve the issue, a problem shared with certain 2018 trucks that previously needed a software update to prevent the transmission from incorrectly reading the position of the column-mounted shift…

Pool robots have become remarkably capable over the last few years. What started as simple cleaners designed to remove debris from the bottom of a pool has evolved into a new category of intelligent systems capable of navigating entire pools, adapting to changing conditions, and taking on multiple maintenance tasks at once. As expectations around smart home technology continue to rise, pool owners are increasingly looking for the same combination of automation, convenience, and reliability from their pool-care equipment. Few brands have embraced that shift more aggressively than Beatbot. Available through the Beatbot website and Amazon storefront, the company has…

In a world of tightening emissions regulations, forced induction, and hybridization (none of which are necessarily bad things), Dodge remains true to itself by refusing to toss aside its massive Hemi V8s. Families looking for a powerful people-mover on a smaller budget must shift to the used market. There are plenty of powerful used family SUVs these days. However, to stand out today, one can look to the popular body style of…

Most budget motorcycles are thought of as stepping stones. Riders buy them to learn, gain confidence, and eventually move on to something faster, more exotic, or more expensive. That’s usually how the story goes. But every once in a while, a motorcycle breaks that pattern entirely. Instead of being sold off after a few years, it sticks around. Riders upgrade, buy other bikes, experiment with different segments, and somehow end up coming back to the same machine they started with. Some Budget Bikes Are Forever Seen As “Beginner Bikes” Honda There’s nothing wrong with beginner motorcycles. In fact, many of…

For the longest time, American luxury buyers knew what to do when they were ready for their next vehicle. They would typically pick up the phone and talk to their favorite salesperson at a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi dealer, and rely on that German reputation and quiet confidence to carry the day. For those people, some Japanese options might have come into the frame, but buyers were unlikely to consider anything from Korea, even if Genesis started to look like an interesting outsider. But today, Genesis no longer needs to be invited to the party. It’s proving itself in the…

Photo: Hitachi Energy SunZia, an $11 billion wind-and-power-line project and one of the largest US clean energy transmission projects ever built, is officially online. Pattern Energy and Hitachi Energy announced that the SunZia Transmission line is now fully operational, carrying renewable electricity from New Mexico to customers across the Southwest. The 550-mile high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line can move up to 3,000 megawatts (MW) of power from the SunZia Wind project in New Mexico to Arizona and customers across the western grid. That’s enough electricity for around 1 million US homes and comes at a time when power demand…
