Arcfox, the electric vehicle brand under BAIC Group, launched the Alpha T7 on Wednesday, offering extended-range and battery-electric powertrains to compete in China’s mainstream family vehicle market.
The 5-seat SUV (sport utility vehicle) carries subsidized launch prices of 132,800 yuan ($19,640) to 168,800 yuan. The starting price is 5,000 yuan, or 3.6%, below the pre-sales level announced on August 26.
The Alpha T7 comes in 9 variants, including 4 extended-range versions with subsidized launch prices of 132,800 yuan to 163,800 yuan and 5 battery-electric versions priced at 135,800 yuan to 168,800 yuan.
List prices range from 136,800 yuan to 172,800 yuan. Arcfox also announced trade-in subsidies and a limited-time subsidy for the ADS advanced feature package, with eligibility conditions distinct from those for the subsidized launch prices.
Arcfox said cumulative pre-sales orders for the Alpha T7 exceeded 60,000 before its official launch. The brand previously reported more than 30,000 pre-orders within the first 72 hours of pre-sales.
Shortly after the launch event concluded, Arcfox announced on Weibo that the Alpha T7 had secured more than 30,000 orders within one hour of its launch.
The Alpha T7’s main selling points include a body more than 5 meters long, Huawei driver assistance technology and an 800-volt platform for its battery-electric versions, targeting families seeking space and smart features.
Positioned as a mid-to-large-size SUV, the model measures 5,020 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,040 mm and coupe-SUV styling.
Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 Pro is not standard across the lineup. It is offered only on the 4 Qiankun Edition variants, comprising 2 extended-range and 2 battery-electric versions.
Subsidized launch prices for the Qiankun Editions start at 153,800 yuan for extended-range versions and 158,800 yuan for battery-electric versions. The system uses 27 sensors, including concealed LiDAR, to support highway and urban navigation-assisted driving.
The battery-electric versions feature a single motor with a peak output of 227 kW and offer CLTC ranges of 650 km or 715 km. The 715-km versions carry an 84.8 kWh battery.
The battery-electric models use an 800-volt silicon carbide platform. Arcfox said they can add 270 km of range in 10 minutes under fast-charging conditions.
The extended-range versions combine a 1.5-liter range extender with a drive motor producing up to 200 kW. All carry a 43.9 kWh battery, offering a CLTC battery-only range of 320 km and a combined range of 1,315 km on a full battery and fuel tank.
All variants use battery cells from CATL (HKEX: 3750). The cabin features a 17.3-inch central touchscreen and a 1.1-meter-wide panoramic P-HUD, while the infotainment system integrates Alibaba’s Qwen and ByteDance’s Doubao large language models.
The Alpha T7 enters a fiercely competitive mainstream new energy SUV market, where similarly priced rivals include the C16 from Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) and the Sealion 06 from BYD (HKEX: 1211).
Arcfox aims to expand its family customer base with a spacious 5-seat cabin, 2 powertrain options and Huawei driver assistance technology on select variants.
Arcfox launched the Beta T1 small EV with a limited-time starting price of 62,800 yuan ($9,290).
