Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) has launched the EC6 Aura Edition, adding a new variant to the coupe SUV (sport utility vehicle) with a purple-themed design that runs through both the exterior and interior.
The Chinese EV maker announced on Tuesday that the special edition is officially available and open for order lock-in, with deliveries starting immediately, largely in the order in which orders are locked.
Nio said that EC6 Aura Edition display vehicles have been arriving at showrooms in cities across China, and consumers can contact Nio advisors to view them.
The EC6 Aura Edition comes with a 100-kWh battery pack and starts at 369,800 yuan ($54,820) for the full vehicle purchase.
Under the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental plan, the model starts at 261,800 yuan, with a monthly battery rental fee of 1,128 yuan.
That pricing is 10,000 yuan, or 2.78%, higher than the base EC6, which starts at 359,800 yuan.
Compared with the 2026 EC6 Champion Edition launched in June at 373,000 yuan, the Aura Edition is 3,200 yuan, or 0.86%, cheaper.
The EC6 Aura Edition comes standard in an Aura Purple body color, which Nio said is inspired by the sky colors of the virtual world.
The new model features a Moon-themed exterior package with matte metallic gray trim, paired with exclusive 21-inch multi-spoke black wheels and purple high-performance brake calipers.
The rear carries an exclusive Aura Edition badge to set it apart from other versions.
Inside, the model adopts a purple interior, with seat stitching, seat belts and front seat backs accented in purple.
The cabin also features exclusive embossed headrests and Moon-themed trim strips, while the infotainment system runs an exclusive Infinite Canvas theme, with flowing purple halos that sync with the interior ambient lighting.
The model comes standard with Nappa leather seats, with ventilation, massage and heating for both front and rear seats, as well as a standard smart electric rear spoiler.
Nio said the model will also support EP Mode, offering 4 exclusive driving modes, exclusive navigation with 7 curated mountain routes, simulated engine sounds and an electric rear spoiler adjustment module.
The feature will be pushed out after the release of the Cedar S 1.6.0 system, which Nio said will be released in the near future.
Customers who lock in orders on or before September 30 can enjoy a zero-down-payment financing plan with 60 installments, with an annualized fee rate of 0% for the first 24 installments and 3% for the remaining 36, equivalent to an annualized interest rate of 5.64%.
They can also get a free limited-time upgrade to the ultra-high-definition streaming rearview mirror, worth 3,800 yuan, and the driver’s zero-gravity seat, worth 8,500 yuan.
Customers who opt for the 100-kWh battery rental scheme can enjoy a buy-one-get-one-free deal on first-year battery rental fees, meaning they only need to pay for 6 of the first 12 installments.
These customers will also receive 5 years of free access to NOP+ (Navigate on Pilot Plus).
In addition, customers who lock in orders for any Nio-brand model between September 14 and October 11 can receive a 5,000 yuan Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday purchase gift package.
The package consists of coupons for the vehicle accessories store, Nio Life and charging benefits, and Onvo and Firefly brand models are not eligible.

The Aura Edition arrives as EC6 deliveries have slumped sharply.
The model saw 322 deliveries in August, down 71.93% year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In the first 8 months of this year, the EC6 saw cumulative deliveries of 3,873 units, down 70.86% year-on-year, accounting for just 1.47% of Nio Inc’s total deliveries.
By comparison, the EC6 delivered 27,226 units in the whole of 2024, accounting for 12.27% of Nio Inc’s deliveries that year.
Nio has recently been rolling out special editions and optional packages at a rapid pace to boost the appeal of its existing models.
Yesterday, the company launched the Lanyue package for the third-generation ES8, adding new optional features to the large all-electric SUV, which has maintained high delivery volumes 1 year after its launch.
Li said Nio will focus on its core business, premium segment and core markets over the next 3 years, participating in embodied AI mainly through strategic investments.
