- The new special edition is priced at 135,800 yuan ($20,030), with differentiation mainly coming from exclusive paint, decals and interior details.
- This is Firefly’s sixth special edition, extending its strategy of using small-batch design variants to sustain market interest while it has only 1 model.
Nio Inc’s (NYSE: NIO) Firefly brand launched the new Club Spiaggia special edition on Friday in China, limiting it to 666 units.
The vehicle is priced at 135,800 yuan ($20,030) and is now available for purchase. Display vehicles will begin arriving at Firefly stores across China on August 29.
Under the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental plan, the vehicle’s purchase price drops to 95,800 yuan, with a monthly battery rental fee of 399 yuan.
The new variant costs 16,000 yuan more than the Firefly’s base Free Edition, priced at 119,800 yuan, representing a premium of 13.4%. It is also 10,000 yuan more expensive than the Glow Edition, which starts at 125,800 yuan.
The latest special edition draws inspiration from the southern Italian coast, adding blue paint, exclusive decals and white multi-spoke wheels.

The cabin features light-colored themed seats, full-width floor mats and exclusive infotainment wallpaper, with cabana stripes and orange accents extending across the exterior and interior.
Firefly’s website shows that the variant, like the other versions, comes with a 42-kWh battery and has a CLTC range of 420 kilometers.
The company did not announce any powertrain or battery performance upgrades, indicating that the premium mainly reflects design differences.
This is the sixth special edition launched by Firefly. Previous versions included Nomadic Maillard, Night Creature, Pegasus Rhapsody, Retro Futurism and Pixel Player.
The Pixel Player special edition launched in June was also priced at 135,800 yuan but was limited to 333 units. It sold out in less than 8 hours after going on sale.
Firefly also launched the design-driven Halo series in July, with its first variant, Habitat, priced at 133,300 yuan, further expanding the product hierarchy between regular and limited-edition versions.
Frequent launches of small-batch design variants help Firefly maintain exposure while it has only 1 production model. The approach also allows the company to test consumers’ acceptance of different themes and price premiums.
Firefly delivered 5,771 vehicles in July, up 143.9% year-on-year but down 16.9% from June. Deliveries totaled 34,943 units in the first 7 months of the year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
