GWM (HKEX: 2333) has started pre-sales for its new-generation Tank 300 SUV (sport utility vehicle), updating one of the most important models of its premium off-road sub-brand.
Pre-sales for the revamped Tank 300 began on Monday, and the model will officially hit the market on July 19.
The Tank 300L Hi4-T version is available for pre-order at 259,800 yuan ($38,320), while the Hi4-Z variant is priced at 269,800 yuan.
The boxy off-road SUV is the sales pillar of the Tank brand. The revamped model features 553 optimizations and upgrades, with more than half of its components completely overhauled, and introduces GWM’s Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid system for the first time.
An internal combustion engine (ICE) version also opened for pre-orders simultaneously, though its pricing has not yet been announced.
The new vehicle’s dimensions have been significantly upgraded, measuring 4,886 millimeters in length, 1,984 mm in width, and 1,927 mm in height. Its wheelbase reaches 3,010 mm, an increase of 260 mm compared to the older model.
Both pre-sales models are equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and electric motors.
The Hi4-T version features a 130-kilowatt (174 hp) front motor and a 37.1-kilowatt-hour battery. It offers a WLTC battery-powered range of 105 kilometers, a combined range of 913 km, and can accelerate from zero to 100 km per hour in 6.1 seconds.
The Hi4-Z variant is equipped with a 180 kW front motor, a 200 kW rear motor, and a 59.6 kWh battery, delivering a combined system output of 560 kW. This version has a WLTC electric range of 200 km, a combined range of 1,122 km, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.3 seconds.
Smart features are another focus of this revamp. The new car is equipped with 27 perception hardware components, including one LiDAR, supporting all-scenario NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) advanced driver assistance.
The cockpit features the Coffee OS 3 AI smart system, which supports the Coffee GPT in-car AI voice large model.
The new model supports up to 6 kW of vehicle-to-load (V2L) discharge and boasts a 2.5-ton towing capacity to targetoutdoor scenarios.
It also offers factory-installed IoT devices such as an in-car radio, an oxygen concentrator, and satellite communication, highlighting GWM’s intention to deepen its presence in the off-road ecosystem.
The launch of the new model comes as the Tank brand faces evident sales pressure. The brand sold 15,713 vehicles in June, down 27.16% year-on-year and 7.93% from the previous month, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
