Toyota is giving the 2027 Sequoia a useful refresh, and the headline is the addition of a new Trailhunter package for buyers who want more off-road hardware without stepping all the way into TRD Pro territory. Following closely behind the updated 2027 Tundra, the Sequoia gets a similar round of changes that include a revised front end, upgraded technology, and a more adventure-focused SR5-based Trailhunter model.
The exterior changes are subtle but noticeable. The 2027 Sequoia wears a larger grille, a chunkier lower bumper design, and rectangular fog lights integrated into the front fascia. It still carries the same big, upright presence that has defined the current-generation Sequoia, but the refresh gives it a tougher face. Toyota also says the available LED light bar in the grille is now brighter, while RIGID fog lights and front recovery hooks are available across the lineup.
The new Trailhunter package is where things get more interesting. Based on the SR5 trim, it adds an Old Man Emu suspension setup, Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, front recovery hooks, additional underbody protection, and a locking rear differential. Toyota also includes Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control, giving the big SUV more control on loose, steep, or uneven surfaces. Bronze wheels and Trailhunter badging help separate it visually from the rest of the lineup.
Inside, Toyota finally gives the base SR5 the larger screen treatment. A 14-inch touchscreen is now standard across the Sequoia range, replacing the smaller 8-inch unit previously found on the entry model. The system runs Toyota’s latest multimedia software with new voice-assistant functions, and a built-in dash camera can capture 20-second clips. Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 also joins the lineup with upgraded hardware and improved detection capability for key driver-assistance features.
The Sequoia continues to ride on Toyota’s TNGA-F truck platform, sharing its bones with the Tundra and offering the brand’s i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain. Toyota has not released 2027 pricing yet, but the lineup will continue to include SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone trims. More details are expected before the refreshed Sequoia goes on sale this fall.
