The best-selling compact in the US is getting some upgrades for 2027. Some larger new screens and some sweet wheels borrowed from one of last year’s special editions aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but neither is the new price. The 2027 Toyota Corolla hatchback is $700 more than last year, and $100 of that is a higher destination fee. Here’s what you get for that new $26,095 base price.
Corolla Gets A Bit More Screen Space For 2027

Last year, SE-spec models – the base trim – came with a 4.2-inch digital cluster inside an analog dash. This year, it gets a 7.0-inch digital cluster while the XSE model ditches its own 7.0-inch screen for a 12.3-inch display.
Toyota’s center screen display was an 8.0-inch unit last year for both models, but this year the XSE puts it in the trash. Instead, it gets a larger 10.5-inch display. Both screens stick out of the dashboard like last-second afterthoughts, but at least the bigger one fills the bezel. It also drops the volume knob in favor of buttons, and neither model runs the latest Toyota system.
If you want the bigger screens on the SE-trim without stepping up to XSE, you can get them both. You’ll just need to tick the box for the new SE Premium Package.
Last year’s retro FX package is gone, but its white-painted 18-inch wheels live on. They’re on the Toyota Genuine accessory list, but they’ll make the Corolla hatch – especially in new Inked and Blueprint paint colors – really pop.
Same 2.0 Under The Hood
2027 Toyota CorollaToyota
Nothing changes under the hood. This is no GR Corolla, so it uses a 2.0-liter four that makes 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. It’s been a few years since Toyota axed the manual from this car, so the only transmission is Toyota’s Dynamic Shift CVT that uses a physical gear to launch before handing off to the CVT’s pulleys.
As mentioned, pricing starts at $26,095 for the Corolla hatchback SE. That includes the $1,295 destination fee. XSE starts at $29,170 including that fee, and it adds the larger screens as well as 18-inch wheels, heated and power-adjustable front seats with SofTex synthetic leather, and dual climate control.

Both Corolla hatch models come with Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 system. It includes useful bits like radar cruise control, lane departure alerts, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind spot monitoring is also standard.
CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:
2027 Toyota CorollaToyota
The Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic are neck-and-neck this year in sales. Neither company breaks out hatch versus sedan sales, and while neither hatch is big volume, they could help decide a winner.
We don’t think Toyota’s changes will tip the scales, but the small price hike might. The cheapest 2026 Civic hatch is $29,090, and we expect that to climb for 2027, but it’s currently just slightly less than the Toyota despite having similar equipment to the XSE. It also has a much larger cabin, and Honda will also sell you a hybrid for a little bit more. If you want that with the Corolla, you’ll have to get the sedan.
