Lucid is not letting the departure of the Gravity Dream Edition leave a 1,000-horsepower hole in its electric SUV lineup. Making its debut around Monterey Car Week, the new 2027 Lucid Gravity GT-S steps in as the performance-focused flagship with a whopping 1,070 horsepower and styling cues inspired by the wild Air Sapphire sedan. It is still a roomy luxury SUV with seating for as many as seven, but one that Lucid says can rocket from zero to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. That is the kind of acceleration figure that still sounds slightly ridiculous when attached to something designed to carry an entire family.

Underneath, the GT-S sticks with a dual-motor electric powertrain rather than going all the way to the Air Sapphire’s three-motor setup. The big news beyond the horsepower figure is that Lucid’s Dynamic Handling Package comes standard. That brings independent rear-wheel steering along with an adaptive three-chamber air suspension capable of lowering the vehicle at speed. Considering how much size and mass comes with a luxury three-row EV, hardware like that should help the Gravity feel considerably smaller from behind the wheel than its passenger and cargo capacity would suggest.

Lucid has also done more to distinguish the GT-S visually than it did with the outgoing Dream Edition. The company’s Sapphire performance theme is easy to spot thanks to blue exterior details and blue-painted brake calipers. The color carries into the cabin with blue seatbelts, stitching, piping, a steering-wheel marker and accents throughout the interior. Lucid’s bear logo is embossed into the front headrests as another nod to the Air Sapphire, while buyers wanting a more traditional luxury touch can spend another $1,300 for the available Tahoe leather interior.

Perhaps the most surprising part of the Gravity GT-S story is that all of this power arrives for less money than the Dream Edition it effectively replaces. Lucid lists the GT-S at $125,900 before destination and other fees, with the $1,850 destination charge bringing the starting point to $127,750. That is nearly $14,000 less than the $141,550 starting figure attached to the Dream Edition previously tested by Car and Driver. Nobody is going to mistake a $127,750 electric SUV for a bargain, but getting 1,070 horsepower, three-row practicality and genuine luxury for less than the model it replaces is at least movement in the right direction.

More importantly, the Gravity GT-S gives Lucid a much clearer performance identity for its SUV. The Air Sapphire already demonstrated that Lucid is interested in more than efficiency, range and straight-line EV bragging rights, and the GT-S brings some of that same attitude to a far more practical package. Orders are open in the United States, although Lucid has not yet announced when customer deliveries will begin. Whenever it reaches driveways, the 2027 Gravity GT-S will arrive as one of those wonderfully excessive EVs that proves family hauling and four-figure horsepower no longer have to live in separate garages.
