Chevrolet is giving its High Country trim a fresh identity, and the 2027 Traverse will be the first model to wear the updated look. The automaker is pushing High Country in a more modern and athletic direction without abandoning the upscale, capability-focused character that has made the badge familiar across its SUV and truck lineup. That means subtle exterior changes rather than a dramatic redesign, including a new High Country badge, Tritan Satin trim for the grille and headlamp accents, and 22-inch high-gloss black wheels with machined faces. Chevrolet plans to carry the same design philosophy into the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500 High Country.

The changes become more noticeable inside, where Chevrolet is trying to give the three-row Traverse a richer feel without making it impractical for everyday family duty. Jet Black seating is paired with Natural Tan accents, while Natural Tan edging on the seatbelts adds an unexpected bit of visual contrast. Chevrolet is also using real wood trim and debossed front headrests to help separate the High Country from lower trims. It is a relatively restrained approach to luxury, which makes sense for the Traverse. Buyers in this segment generally want something that feels special without becoming too delicate for kids, pets, road trips, and all the other abuse that comes with family transportation.

Some of the more interesting upgrades for 2027 are technological. High Country and RS models will come standard with an interior camera that supports a new Cabin Glance feature, allowing the driver to view the second and third rows on the center display. The camera will also be available elsewhere in the Traverse lineup. Chevrolet is adding Surround Vision Recorder functionality as well, letting owners capture and save footage from the vehicle’s exterior cameras while driving. A separate Security Recording feature can begin capturing video when the vehicle alarm is triggered, provided a USB drive is connected. In a large SUV filled with passengers, those camera features could prove more useful in daily life than another handful of decorative luxury touches.

The basic Traverse formula remains familiar. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, while maximum towing capacity reaches 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. Chevrolet also claims up to 98 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, giving the Traverse plenty of room for the kind of hauling expected from a modern three-row SUV. A 17.7-inch center touchscreen remains a major part of the cabin, and available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance adds another premium feature for buyers who spend considerable time on the highway. The result is still more family hauler than traditional luxury SUV, but that is arguably the point of High Country.

The timing also appears favorable for Chevrolet. Traverse sales increased 20 percent during the second quarter of 2026, and the model recorded its best first half after a record sales year in 2025. Rather than radically changing a vehicle that is already gaining momentum, Chevrolet is using the 2027 model year to sharpen one of its most expensive and visually distinctive trims. Production of the 2027 Traverse High Country is scheduled to begin in September at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant. For shoppers who like the Traverse’s truck-inspired stance and generous interior but want something dressier than the mainstream versions, the newly evolved High Country could be the most convincing interpretation of the formula yet.
