Jeep’s best-selling mid-size SUV gets a timely update for 2026. The headline is a new four-cylinder engine that promises big power in a smaller package. Styling, tech, and trims also see smart tweaks.

Jeep introduces the Hurricane 4. It is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. The engine uses forged internals, a DOHC layout, and a variable-geometry turbo. Jeep also brings over Turbulent Jet Ignition, a pre-chamber combustion system first seen on Maserati’s Nettuno V-6. The goal is strong output with cleaner, more efficient burn.

Torque delivery should feel stout in daily driving. Jeep says 80 percent of peak torque hits as early as 2300 rpm and holds through 4500 rpm. The Hurricane 4 pairs with an eight-speed automatic and is rated to tow up to 6,200 pounds. Production is slated for Dundee, Michigan. The familiar 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and the 4xe plug-in hybrid remain in the lineup.

Design changes are subtle but purposeful. The seven-slot grille gains more depth. Daytime running lights add a hockey-stick signature. The lower fascia is reshaped to improve cooling. Trailhawk models keep their off-road focus, and the 4xe’s blue accents give way to red recovery hooks and a red hood decal for 2026.

Inside, the big news is screen size. The available infotainment display grows to 12.3 inches, replacing the previous 10.1-inch max. Materials and audio get attention too. Summit Reserve brings Palermo leather, real oak trim, and a 19-speaker McIntosh system. The trim walk is simplified to Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, and Summit, with Altitude and Reserve packages unlocking extra equipment. The Laredo Altitude now comes standard with the Hurricane 4 and the larger display.

The long-wheelbase Grand Cherokee L continues with three rows and the same powertrain choices and features. Buyers will also see fresh paint options. Steel Blue, Fathom Blue, and Copper Shino join the palette for 2026.

Fuel economy figures and pricing are still under wraps. Jeep says those details will arrive before the refreshed Grand Cherokee reaches dealers in the coming months. On paper, the return to a three-engine lineup, a stronger tech story, and targeted design updates should keep this SUV squarely in the hunt.
