One of the biggest measurements of a car’s performance is its power-to-weight ratio. Sure, a four-figure horsepower figure is the norm for any new hypercar nowadays, but when you put that number next to its dry/curb weight, it explains just how far companies go to extract the best out of their flagship products. So, we have found ten hypercars with the best power-to-weight ratio currently on sale or being delivered, and ranked them from the lowest to the highest.
This list is not exhaustive; specs are taken from the manufacturer, and are correct at the time of writing. We rank these cars from the lowest hp/ton to the highest.

The lowest power-to-weight ratio on this list is the McLaren W1, which is an insane stat because it has just shy of 900 hp/ton. Unveiled in 2024 a week before its natural rival, the Ferrari F80, it was part of a new generation of the Holy Trinity. As the W1 is lighter and has more power than the F80, it secures its spot on this list. As a spiritual successor to the McLaren F1 and P1, the W1 sits as the flagship of the current lineup. Powered by its most powerful V8 ever, the W1 also features unique aero devices. Called the ‘McLaren Active Long Tail’, the rear wing can extend behind the rear of the car by 300mm to provide a total of 2,205 lbs of downforce. Only 399 units will be made, and deliveries are expected to start late 2026.

The Bugatti Tourbillon is the first car to be produced after the Bugatti-Rimac partnership, and it is completely crazy. As a brainchild of Mate Rimac, when the entire industry resorted to turbocharging and downsizing engines, the Tourbillon introduces a bespoke Cosworth engineered naturally-aspirated V16. Coupled with three electric motors, it produces 1,800 hp. Even though it has ludicrous power, the hybrid batteries and humongous V16 engine add weight, and the Tourbillon tips the scale at 4,398 lbs. Succeeding the Chiron, the Tourbillon also has a bespoke interior. The driver’s instrument cluster is manufactured by Swiss watchmakers with a rising and pivoting central display. Production is limited to 250 units with each car starting around $4.1 million dollars.

Speaking of Rimac, the Nevera R is the company’s latest all-electric hypercar. Many may have criticized the original Nevera for not having the most aggressive design. The R solves that problem with more aero. The Nevera’s new aero package now features a fixed rear wing and an updated front and rear diffuser which increases downforce by 15%. The quad motors allow for torque vectoring of all four wheels and the entire available 2,107 hp can be split between the front and rear axles. Even after the addition of fixed wings and more downforce elements, the Nevera R improves aerodynamic efficiency by 10% over the original Nevera.

The next hypercar on the list is also by the newest company featured among the top ten. The Czinger 21C V Max combines designs made by AI to create lightweight suspension components and 3D printing to maximize weight savings. It uses a 2.88L V8 with three electric motors to produce 1,250 hp. The V Max version of the 21C saves weight by getting rid of the large rear wing and downforce to reduce drag for a maximum top speed of 253 mph. The cabin is unique as well, featuring a tandem seating position, inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird aircraft.

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is next on the list, hailing from Angelholm, Sweden. Named after Christian Von Koenigsegg’s father, the Jesko succeeded the Agera in 2019. The Jesko is available in two variants, the Attack and Absolut. The Jesko Attack is made for the track with an aggressive rear wing and front canards, whereas the Absolut is more streamlined for a higher top speed. The Absolut also has a usable front storage space, which can be used to stow the removable hard top roof. On E85 pump gas, it produces 1,600 hp sent to the rear wheels only via a nine-speed “Light Speed Transmission.” Limited to just 125 units, each car starts at roughly $3.8 million dollars.

The Koenigsegg Gemera is definitely one of the most unique cars on this list. While all the other hypercars on this list are performance-oriented two-seaters, the Gemera has space for four occupants. While the original plan was for the car to have a three-cylinder engine nicknamed the “Tiny Friendly Giant” with a hybrid powertrain, the clever minds at Koenigsegg found a way to fit the Jesko’s 5.0L V8 into the car. After overwhelming demand, all 300 cars are now slated to get the V8 instead of the three-cylinder. The hot V setup works alongside its patented “Dark Matter” motor and rear e-motors. Combined they produce an astonishing 2,300 hp, the highest power figure on this list. As this is a family carrier with the power of 2.3x Lamborghini Revuletos, it is heavier than the cars further along this list.

We are now on the podium for the highest power-to-weight-ratio cars on this list. The Aurora is the Danish manufacturer’s next generation hypercar after the TSR-GT. Built from the ground up, it features a MAHLE-engineered V12 with four turbochargers and front and rear electric motors. Together they produce 1,850 hp and send power to all four wheels. The Aurora is also available as either a track-focused Agil variant or a grand-touring road-based Tur variant. The Tur makes more power and has smoother body lines, for a higher claimed top speed of 280 mph. Limited to just 100 units, there are plans to make 50 Agil and 50 Tur models.

The winner and runner-up spots for the best power-to-weight ratio cars are both American-made. Introduced in 2020, the SSC Tuatara does not use any hybrid batteries or motors, instead it produces old-school power – 1,350 hp on pump fuel and 1,750 hp on E85 ethanol. One of the most famous controversies surrounding this car was its top speed run in 2020, claiming to have hit 331 mph. On further verification in 2021, the Tuatara claimed its 283 mph average top speed record. With a carbon fiber monocoque and a drag coefficient of 0.279, the SSC Tuatara is one of the fastest cars of the recent past, with a total of 110 units being produced.

The car with the highest power-to-weight ratio is the Hennessey Venom F5 Evolution. Built in Texas, the ‘base’ Venom F5 was already ludicrous as it is, and the Evolution package dials it to 11. Powered by the Twin-turbo “Fury” V8, it now produces 2,031 hp on E85 fuel in the Evo trim, making it one of the most powerful combustion engines ever made. If that was not enough to scare you, it sends power only to the rear wheels, making its traction control system work overtime almost all the time. The Evolution package includes a revised splitter, new dive planes and adaptive suspension modes.
There have been many versions of the Venom F5, and the introduction of its ‘Maverick’ program allows for bespoke customization. Safe to say, horsepower is the one thing that is not lacking in any of the cars in this power-to-weight comparison. However, the budget may be an issue for some, just saying.
