The Mona L03, the first SUV (sport utility vehicle) in Xpeng’s (NYSE: XPEV) Mona lineup, has opened for pre-sales, with its official launch scheduled for July 16.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker held the model’s China debut event in Beijing on Thursday, announcing its pre-sales prices.
The Mona L03 is available in six versions, with pre-sales prices ranging from 143,800 yuan ($21,200) to 165,800 yuan.
Xpeng positions the vehicle as “young people’s first smart and stylish SUV,” targeting younger consumers.
On July 16, Xpeng will hold the global launch event for the Mona L03 in Munich, Germany.
Xpeng said the model is a global vehicle and will go on sale in 64 countries and regions worldwide this year.
The Mona L03 continues Xpeng’s dual-powertrain strategy, offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.
The BEV version offers two CLTC range options of 525 kilometers and 625 kilometers, with combined power consumption of 11.9 kWh per 100 kilometers and 0-100 km/h acceleration in as fast as 6.6 seconds.
The version supports 3C fast charging, taking 19.1 minutes to charge from 10% to 80 percent.
The EREV version delivers a maximum CLTC combined range of 1,330 kilometers, with a pure electric range of 315 kilometers and WLTC combined fuel consumption of 5.16 liters per 100 kilometers.
Smart driving is one of the model’s core selling points. The Mona L03 comes standard with Xpeng’s in-house developed Turing AI chip across all versions.
The Max versions carry a single Turing chip with 750 TOPS of computing power, equipped with a distilled version of the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) assisted driving system.
The Ultra SE versions carry dual chips with 1,500 TOPS of computing power, supporting the full version of the second-generation VLA.
This means Xpeng is bringing flagship-level assisted driving hardware to the mass market at around 150,000 yuan, raising the bar for specifications in the price segment.
The Mona L03 was designed by a global team led by JuanMa Lopez, a former Ferrari exterior designer, with a drag coefficient as low as 0.228.
The vehicle measures 4,650 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm and a sloping fastback silhouette.
The cabin features a 15.6-inch 2.5K central control screen, a 26.8-inch W-HUD head-up display, a 20-speaker AI audio system, and a front passenger zero-gravity seat with 14-point massage.
The hatchback-style trunk offers a standard capacity of 539 liters, expandable to 1,640 liters with the rear seats folded down, along with a 102-liter front trunk and support for 6 kW external discharging.
Xpeng also unveiled a ROAM special edition, customized with the involvement of brand ambassador Ouyang Nana, further reinforcing its appeal to young buyers.
The Mona L03 is the second model in the Mona lineup, following the M03 sedan.
In Xpeng’s naming system, the letter M stands for sedan and L stands for SUV, together spelling out the meaning of “Mona Lisa.”
Xpeng hopes the L03 can replicate the strong sales performance of the M03. Launched in August 2024, the M03 delivered 175,689 units in 2025, accounting for 40.91% of the company’s total deliveries.
However, the M03’s sales momentum has slowed recently, with cumulative deliveries of 48,291 units in the first five months of 2026, down 33.15% year-on-year.
The L03 arrives as Xpeng’s sales are recovering. The company delivered 40,126 vehicles in June, up 15.93% year-on-year and the highest monthly figure so far in 2026, ending five consecutive months of year-on-year declines.
