Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) delivered 38,027 vehicles globally in July, up 3.57% year-on-year but down 5.23% from June, a sign that the production ramp-up of its new low-priced SUV (sport utility vehicle) has yet to fully kick in.
The figure came in below the dealer expectations cited by Deutsche Bank in a July 21 research note. Dealers at the time expected Xpeng to deliver as many as 45,000 vehicles in July, saying limited Mona L03 supply during the month was the main constraint.
The Mona L03 was launched globally in Munich, Germany, on July 16, starting at 123,800 yuan ($18,240) in China, with first deliveries to customers beginning on July 22.
Xpeng had said large-scale deliveries across China will accelerate in August.
Firm orders for the vehicle topped 20,000 units within seven minutes of its launch. Citing dealer information, Deutsche Bank said the L03 has accumulated more than 50,000 non-cancellable orders, with wait times for the all-electric version at 13 to 17 weeks.
That means the August and September delivery figures will better reflect the model’s real demand, as well as Xpeng’s ability to convert orders into sales.
Xpeng delivered 40,126 vehicles in June, its best month so far in 2026 and a 15.9% increase year-on-year. Growth slowed in July.
As of July 31, Xpeng’s cumulative global deliveries stood at 1,223,828 units. Its deliveries in the first seven months of the year, however, came to 204,004 vehicles, down 12.78% year-on-year.
The declines were steeper earlier in the year, with January and February down 34.1% and 49.9% respectively. The drops have narrowed each month since, and the company will need new models including the L03 to close the gap with last year in the second half.
Overseas, Xpeng said the Mona L03 will go on sale in 65 countries and regions this year, expanding its international product lineup.
The company also unveiled its long-term strategy for the Australian market this month, planning to launch five all-new models in the second half of 2026 and continue expanding its local sales and service network.
Xpeng also announced that its NGP (Next Generation Pilot) system, powered by the in-house developed VLA 2.0 model, will begin its global roll-out in 2027.
Bringing an assisted driving system trained in China to overseas markets still means dealing with differences in regulatory requirements and liability rules across countries.
Xpeng said the electric vehicles it delivered from January to July 2026 are expected to cut life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3,230,000 tons.
The Xpeng Mona L03 starts at 123,800 yuan ($18,300) in China and is offered in both BEV and EREV versions.
