The first SUV (sport utility vehicle) models from Xiaomi’s (HKEX: 1810) all-new Sky Nomad series have appeared in the latest batch of new vehicle filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
A total of 4 Sky Nomad models were filed this time — the N90 Max, the N90 Max Camping Edition, the N70, and the N70 Max — all of which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), according to the latest batch of the new vehicle regulatory catalog released by China’s MIIT on Friday.
This marks the first time specifications for the Sky Nomad series have been revealed through regulatory channels. Just yesterday, Xiaomi confirmed that Sky Nomad is its second product series after the SU7/YU7 series, positioned as “smart, versatile large-space SUVs.”
All 4 models are equipped with a 1.5L engine produced by Harbin Dongan Automotive Engine as a range extender, with a displacement of 1,499 ml and a maximum net power of 112 kW.
As the flagship of the series, the N90 Max measures 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,080 mm, offered in both 7-seat and 5-seat versions.
The N90 Max adopts a dual-motor layout, with peak motor power of 210 kW and 100 kW respectively. The vehicle is fitted with a ternary lithium-ion battery, with both the cells and pack produced by CALB (HKEX: 3931), and has a curb weight of 2,800 kg.
The most eye-catching is the N90 Max Camping Edition. In the filing documents, the vehicle is classified as a “cultural life service vehicle,” a category of special-purpose passenger vehicle, equipped with a pop-up roof, a rooftop bed platform, side cabinets, and a side-tent interface.

The Camping Edition can also be optionally equipped with an in-car projection kit and a detachable table board, with uses including rest, outdoor team-building, and mobile training.
The filing documents show that the pop-up roof may only be used on non-public roads and while the vehicle is parked.
The Camping Edition’s body height increases to 1,925 mm due to the pop-up roof, with a curb weight of 2,840 kg and a rated capacity of 5 passengers. Its powertrain and battery configuration are identical to the standard N90 Max.
The smaller N70 and N70 Max have body dimensions of 4,960 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm, and both are rated to carry 5 passengers.
The main differences between the two models lie in their powertrains and batteries. The N70 adopts a single-motor layout with a peak power of 210 kW, and is fitted with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Sunwoda (SZSE: 300207).
The N70 Max, like the N90 Max, adopts a 210 kW/100 kW dual-motor layout and is fitted with CALB’s ternary lithium-ion battery.
The Sky Nomad series is based on the Kunlun architecture that Xiaomi has been developing since early 2023, featuring a completely flat floor and long-rail design in the cabin.
Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said the series took 3.5 years to refine, aiming to create a “living space.”
Local media previously reported that the starting price range of the series’ first model is expected to be pushed down to 200,000 yuan ($29,420), putting it in direct competition with Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) and Huawei-backed Aito.
The Sky Nomad series is a key part of Xiaomi’s 2026 expansion plans. The company has set its full-year delivery target for 2026 at 550,000 units, up about 34% from roughly 410,000 units in 2025.
In the first half of this year, Xiaomi EV delivered a cumulative 185,055 vehicles, completing only about 34% of its annual target. To achieve that target, its monthly average deliveries in the second half would need to reach about 60,000 units, far above current levels.
