- Xiaomi has built an initial batch of Sky Nomad vehicles ahead of launch, enabling deliveries within 1-5 weeks.
- N70 Max and N90 Max launch prices undercut pre-sales levels as Xiaomi targets family buyers with extended-range vehicles.
Xiaomi Auto, the automotive unit of Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810), said Monday that its Sky Nomad lineup secured more than 10,000 locked-in orders within 4 minutes of launch, signaling early demand for its first extended-range vehicles.
The company announced the figure on Weibo shortly after the launch event ended, without providing an order breakdown by variant.
The Sky Nomad lineup starts at 209,900 yuan ($30,960), marking Xiaomi Auto’s expansion from battery electric vehicles into the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) segment.
The initial lineup includes the 5-seat N70 Pro and N70 Max, the 7-seat N90 Max, and a 5-seat N90 Max Explorer Edition aimed at camping enthusiasts.
The N70 Pro and N70 Max start at 209,900 yuan and 239,900 yuan, respectively. The N90 Max and its Explorer edition are priced at 269,900 yuan and 299,900 yuan.
The N70 Max is priced 20,000 yuan below its pre-sales price announced on July 30, while the N90 Max is 30,000 yuan lower, reductions of about 7.7% and 10%, respectively.
The new lineup will broaden Xiaomi Auto’s potential customer base. The automotive business previously relied on the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV, both battery electric vehicles.
To meet initial demand, Xiaomi Auto has produced a batch of vehicles ahead of launch. Customers can lock in orders by paying a deposit and take delivery within 1-5 weeks.
All Sky Nomad variants feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender. The N70 Max offers a CLTC electric range of 505 kilometers, while the N90 Max has a combined range of 1,705 kilometers on a full tank and charge.
The early orders support Xiaomi’s push to accelerate deliveries. Whether they translate into sustained delivery growth will determine how much ground it can make up toward its annual target.
Xiaomi Auto delivered 216,322 vehicles in the first 7 months of this year, up 14.83% from a year earlier, according to data compiled by CnEVPost. The company previously said August deliveries exceeded 30,000 vehicles, without disclosing an exact figure.
Using 30,000 vehicles as a lower-bound estimate for August, the company achieved about 44.8% of its annual target of 550,000 vehicles in the first 8 months. On that basis, it would need to average about 75,900 deliveries per month over the final 4 months.
Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun said earlier Monday that cumulative vehicle deliveries had surpassed 800,000, about 29 months after deliveries of its first model, the SU7, began.
The Sky Nomad lineup starts at 209,900 yuan ($30,960) and will be key to Xiaomi’s push for 550,000 deliveries this year.
