    • Sky Nomad helped lift Xiaomi Auto’s monthly deliveries to their highest level so far in 2026 in its first month on sale.
    • The company still needs to accelerate sharply in the fourth quarter to approach its annual target of 550,000 vehicles.

Xiaomi Auto, the automotive unit of Xiaomi (HKEX: 1810), delivered more than 40,000 vehicles in September, its highest monthly total this year, as deliveries of the newly launched Sky Nomad series began.

The company announced the figure on Weibo on Thursday, without disclosing an exact total or a breakdown for the SU7 sedan, YU7 SUV and Sky Nomad series.

This marks the first time Xiaomi Auto has reported monthly deliveries exceeding 40,000 vehicles this year. It delivered 30,153 vehicles in August and 31,267 in July, according to China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data and figures compiled by CnEVPost.

Xiaomi Auto delivered at least 286,475 vehicles in the first 9 months of this year. That represents about 52.1% of its annual target of 550,000 vehicles, leaving roughly 263,525 to deliver in the final 3 months, based on the disclosed minimum.

That would require average monthly deliveries of about 87,842 vehicles from October through December, roughly 2.2 times the lower bound disclosed for September. September’s increase improved its delivery pace, but meeting the annual target will still require a much steeper ramp-up in production and deliveries.

The Sky Nomad series was Xiaomi Auto’s main source of additional volume in September. Launched on September 7, the series marked the company’s entry into the extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) market.

The initial lineup includes the 5-seat N70 Pro and N70 Max, the 7-seat N90 Max and the 5-seat N90 Max Studio. These models expand Xiaomi Auto’s lineup beyond the all-electric SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV into the family SUV market.

The Sky Nomad series starts at 209,900 yuan ($31,170) and secured more than 10,000 locked-in orders within 4 minutes of launch. The company previously said it had produced a batch of vehicles ahead of launch, allowing customers to take delivery within 1 to 5 weeks of locking in their orders.

Xiaomi Auto vice president Li Xiaoshuang previously said Sky Nomad had attracted strong interest and performed well in sales. However, the company has disclosed locked-in order figures only once.

According to Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun, the company typically releases figures for the entire first month of sales once that period ends. Sky Nomad’s first-month figures are expected after October 7.

Lei previously said customers who lock in their orders on or before October 7 will remain eligible for first-month order benefits. Benefits for early buyers will also expire then.

Xiaomi Auto’s delivery acceleration comes as it enters a more challenging segment. China’s retail sales of EREVs fell 15.85% year-on-year to 616,000 vehicles in the first 8 months of this year, according to CPCA data.

Still, Xiaomi hopes to attract more family buyers through Sky Nomad. The N70 Max offers a CLTC battery range of 505 kilometers, while the N90 Max has a combined range of 1,705 kilometers with a full fuel tank and a fully charged battery.

Xiaomi Auto delivered 246,475 vehicles in the first 8 months of this year, up 9.65% year-on-year. Cumulative deliveries reached 797,783 by the end of August, and Lei said on September 7 that the total had exceeded 800,000.

Xiaomi Auto signed MoUs with an initial group of 8 German automotive dealer groups and will enter the European market in 2027.
