JAS Motorsport has appointed two North American dealers for its JAS Tensei road-going supercar. And what an opportunity it is for an NSX enthusiast or collector with a ton of cash banked for what’s going to be a rare beast that checks many boxes.
The JAS Tensei is based on a 1990-generation NSX chassis with modern re-engineered underpinnings, and it’s worth learning about the companies and talent, but we’ll get to that. Meanwhile, those that have been waiting should know that Graham Rahal Performance will be looking after sales and customer service in the US, while Pfaff Reserve will do the same in Canada.
Why This Isn’t Just Another Super Expensive Restomod

The market isn’t lacking high-dollar restomods, but this one is not without deep roots with Honda and the NSX. JAS Motorsport is an Italian motor racing team that’s been a tight and successful partner with Honda since 1998. Storied Italian design house Pininfarina is part of the project, too, infusing the restomod NSX with modern style without diluting the original’s instantly recognizable bodywork of which it had an early hand in.
“Graham Rahal Performance is extremely fortunate to be partnering with the legendary JAS Motorsport team on one of their most impressive projects to date. Combining their storied history and knowledge of motorsports, and GRP’s ability to provide the best in custom automotive experiences, we believe this is the perfect opportunity to introduce Tensei to the United States. The NSX has always held a special place in my family’s story.”
– Graham Rahal, Owner, Graham Rahal Performance
Indeed, Rahal was involved in the second generation of NSX development while his father was involved in the original’s development. Meanwhile, the Tensei is the first road-going supercar from JAS Motorsport, which indicated the motorsport team may be interested in entering the market properly further down the line. We say properly, because it’s only building 35 units of the Tensei.
Canada Is A Market For High End Restomods

It’s interesting that such a limited edition Italian-based supercar will be sold in Canada, suggesting at least one might already be lined up to be sold there. According to JAS, “Pfaff Reserve provides a white-glove process for customers across the country, offering constant support until vehicles are delivered and exceptional after-sales support.”

The Crayola R&D S1 Project started life as a spunky English sports car, but lighter weight and aggressive aero have turned it into a mini hypercar.
“Tensei is a truly exceptional supercar and in Graham Rahal Performance and Pfaff Reserve, we have two exceptional sales partners to serve the US and Canadian markets. Both have large and enthusiastic client bases with impeccable taste in high-performance vehicles, whether it’s with the aim of collecting or driving on the street or racetrack, as well as reputations for first-class customer service and a willingness to go the extra mile to make sure every last detail is taken care of. This aligns with our philosophy with Tensei perfectly and makes both organizations perfect partners for this project.”

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters

The original NSX is an automotive icon of the 1990s, and it’s a testament to the car that it holds up to a modern interpretation. We’re in a period of heavy nostalgia for the 1990s right now, and it seems a lot of people have money to burn on $1,000,000+ restomods. The irony of the NSX originally being designed as a somewhat affordable daily driver supercar benchmarked against V8 Ferraris for performance is not lost on us, but it’s likely no accident that another legendary Italian design house, Italdesign, has also released a redesigned NSX — albeit based on te most recent hybrid platform with heritage looks.
