While we’re not quite halfway through 2026, we’re more than halfway through Jeep’s 85th anniversary program in which the brand releases one new special edition every month. More specifically, Jeep revealed the eighth in the series, and it’s called the Sarge. It also looks an awful lot like the Willys ’41 trim level that’s been available for a while. However, the Sarge offers more trim and bodystyle options, and can even be had for less than the ’41 model.

The Wrangler Two-Door Gets Some Love
Ironically, for a trim level so directly inspired by the original military GP trucks, the Willys ’41 is not available with the two-door body that’s the closest to those classics. The Sarge doesn’t have the same restriction, being available on short and long Wranglers, along with the Gladiator. Furthermore, the Sarge isn’t restricted to the single ’41 Green color that the ’41 is. You can have one in green, grey, black, or white with contrasting decals, grille, and roof in either green or white. Jeep also fits the ’41’s unique 17-inch wheels wrapped in 33-inch tires, bronze tow hooks, and rock rails.

The interior is where the Sarge sets itself further apart from the Willys ’41 by featuring a totally unique interior on top of its extra options. Instead of a black dashboard with tan cloth seats, the Sarge has a tan and green interior. The dash has tan leather surrounds with green cloth on the main panels. The leather continues onto the arm rests while the green cloth covers the seats. Jeep also added gold stitching to the cloth areas to tie it in with the tan. Jeep does still borrow some bits from the ’41 such as the shifter medallion, and center console and tailgate plaques.
Choose Between Affordability And Capability
There’s one other major choice for potential Sarge buyers, and that’s the trim level. You can have a Sarge that’s based on either the Willys trim, or the Rubicon trim. Depending on whether that trim is on a Wrangler or a Gladiator, the Sarge package will add $100 or $500 respectively to the base price. As such, the Willys Sarge is a really affordable way to get ’41 styling. The four-door Wrangler Sarge starts at $45,735, which is $3,600 less than the ’41 four-door. The price difference between Gladiator Willys Sarge and Gladiator Willys ’41 is smaller at $2,010, but still significant. You can see pricing for all of these Sarge models below.

If capability is more important, you can get the Rubicon Sarge. This combines the military styling of the ’41 with the Rubicon’s bevy of off-road upgrades. It features an upgraded rear axle, locking front differential, better low-range gearing in the transfer case, and ultra-short optional rear gear ratios. Surprisingly, a Rubicon Sarge isn’t much more expensive than a Willys ’41. Comparing the four-door Wranglers shows a difference of $1,300. This time, the Gladiator gap is bigger at $4,760. We could see some hesitation choosing between Gladiators, but the price difference is so close on the Wrangler that the Rubicon Sarge seems worth it if you’re looking at a Willys ’41.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:
This might not be the most original Jeep special edition, since it goes back to the military well that the brand loves so much. However, the value in new options is seriously appealing. Considering the fact that the Willys ’41 trim has been popular enough to be a more consistent part of the Wrangler and Gladiator lines, it’ll be a little disappointing when the Sarge disappears. Perhaps Jeep could update future ’41 models to have more of the Sarge’s configurability.
