Over the past few years, Jeep was neglecting and even dropping much of its smaller vehicle range. The Cherokee had a long hiatus until this year, and the Renegade has been gone since the 2023 model year. Plus, the current Compass, despite updates, remains a vehicle from 2017. The story is mostly different in Europe where the majority of Jeep’s line is small. Yet, it also has been without the Renegade since 2025. Only Latin America still has it.
Jeep announced this week, that the Renegade is coming back to Europe by 2030, though the return may not include America.

It’s One Of Many New Jeeps Coming
This announcement comes from Jeep’s European division, and it goes beyond the Renegade. Apparently six new Jeep models will go on sale in Europe by the end of the decade. Two of them have even been named. Besides the Renegade, the electric Jeep Recon will be available. We suspect the Recon is what’s portrayed in the shadow against the crate in the teaser image above.
These new vehicles will cover the B-, C-, and D- size segments. For reference, the Recon is a D-class vehicle, and the tiny Avenger is B-class. Between the two in the C-segment is the Compass, which is a completely new vehicle, unrelated to the American one, available as either a hybrid or EV.

While Jeep didn’t name it, it did also confirm that the Recon is one of two new vehicles headed for the D-segment. We could certainly see it being the American Cherokee, considering it’s based on an STLA platform and uses an engine derived from a Peugeot powerplant. However, since Jeep has a couple of unique models in Europe not available in the US, it could be something else.
Is It Coming To America?
Not surprisingly, Jeep’s European division didn’t say anything about whether the Renegade would come to the US. We don’t expect it to, since Jeep laid out its future product plans for America earlier this year. Notably absent from the list of products was the Renegade. In fact, the only model that was obscured was the upcoming Scrambler, plus the chart covered all the models that will be on sale by the end of the decade. So we doubt we’ll see the Renegade or any European-specific models coming across the Atlantic.

What About That Compass?
We mentioned that Europe has a completely new Compass that we don’t get, but that will likely change soon. Chief Design Officer for Stellantis Ralph Gilles confirmed during the company’s investor day earlier this year that America will get a version of that new global Compass. Production is expected to start next year. In Europe, the Compass is available as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and an EV, though only the EV offers all-wheel drive, so we would expect the American version to have some substantial powertrain differences to ensure even combustion models have four driven wheels.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:
Even though Jeep has been lacking some models in the entry level of the US range, the brand does have a large lineup. That’s not the case in Europe. In a number of European countries, the only two Jeeps available are the Avenger and the Compass, and some of them also offer the Wrangler. That’s not much variety.
Expanding the lineup should make Jeep healthier in Europe, and the healthier Jeep is overseas, that should pay dividends for the home office, too.
