Originality has become one of the most powerful words in the collector car world, and CURATED is leaning into that idea with RM Sotheby’s for a special Monterey Car Week offering called Only Original Once. The collection brings together four remarkably preserved Lamborghini road cars spanning the Countach, Diablo, and Murciélago eras. Each car is being offered publicly for the first time, making this less about simply buying another rare Lamborghini and more about acquiring a benchmark example that still carries the details, materials, and character it left Sant’Agata with.
The headliner for modern Lamborghini fans may be the 2010 Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, a one-owner “ghost” car showing just 791 miles at the time of cataloguing. It is one of only three U.S.-market Murciélago SVs fitted with the sought-after High Speed rear wing and is believed to be one of only eight U.S. examples finished in Nero Aldebaran. Complete with its original books, tools, documentation, and window sticker, this is the kind of Murciélago SV that feels almost impossible to duplicate today.
The collection also includes a 2003 Murciélago 40th Anniversary, one of only 50 examples built to celebrate Lamborghini’s 40th birthday. Finished in Verde Artemis with exposed carbon-fiber accents and the model’s distinctive asymmetric interior, it was delivered new to the President of Lamborghini Toronto, who kept it until 2020. With approximately 6,700 miles and a six-speed manual paired with Lamborghini’s 6.2-liter V12, it captures the early Murciélago era in one of its most collectible forms.
Then there are the two older icons that give the collection its deeper historical weight. The 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S Series I by Bertone is one of only 50 first-series cars built and shows just 1,803 kilometers, or about 1,121 miles. It reportedly retains its factory paint, interior, original Pirelli P7 tires, and European-spec bumpers, making it one of the most untouched early Countach examples to come to public sale. The 1991 Lamborghini Diablo, finished in Bianco over Champagne, is said to be one of just six closed-roof cars in that specification and shows only 1,349 kilometers, or about 838 miles.
That level of preservation is what makes this group special. As CURATED co-founder John Temerian put it, “Anyone can restore a Lamborghini. No one can make it original again.” That idea cuts straight to the heart of why untouched cars are becoming so valuable. Restoration can make a car beautiful, but it cannot bring back factory-applied paint, original interior textures, first-fit details, or the little production quirks that tell collectors how these cars truly existed when new.
The Only Original Once collection will be offered at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction on Saturday, August 15, during Monterey Car Week 2026, with previews at the Portola Hotel and Monterey Conference Centre. In a week filled with seven-figure exotics and concours-level machinery, these four Lamborghinis stand out for a different reason. They are not just rare. They are preserved pieces of Lamborghini history, and in the collector market, that kind of originality is becoming harder to find than horsepower.
