Many of us at CarBuzz have been covering the car business for years now, and we’ve seen some wild stuff, both when it comes to cars, and when it comes to car-related merchandise. Nissan and Nismo, though, have shown us something that we’ve truly never seen before. They’ve revealed some new car grilles. No, wait, they’re not grilles, they’re “Grillz,” jewelry for your teeth that are inspired by famous Nissan cars.

It’s Weird, But It Also Makes Sense
Yes, you read that right, instead of a mouthful of gold or silver, Nismo worked with Loud Mouth LDN, a jeweler that only makes dental jewelry, to put automotive grilles in Loud Mouth’s Grillz. Technically, they’re more than just the grilles, as they’re actually most of the front ends of four famous Nissans. Those four models are a Bayside Blue Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, the Japan GT Championship-winning Pennzoil-sponsored R34 racecar, a new Nissan Z Super GT car, and Nismo’s Formula E race car.
That final car is also the inspiration for this collaboration. The Formula E season is headed to London next for the second-to-last event. So, why not promote Nismo and Nissan in a special way with a company based in the city that the company will be racing in? Furthermore, the promotion combines car grilles and Grillz for people. In a way, it’s amazing we haven’t seen it before.
Whether the end results are good is very much in the eye of the beholder. We’re not sure any of the CarBuzz team would be looking into getting one, but we do admire the attention to detail that Loud Mouth paid with each design. You can spot the cherry blossoms on the front wing of the Formula E car. The GT-R racecar has tiny, simplified renditions of the little Pennzoil decals. The colors are all spot on, and they appear to fit each model’s teeth extremely well. If we had any gripe, it might be that the detailing is small enough that it can be difficult to tell exactly what you’re looking at without taking some time to look closely.
It Doesn’t Seem Like They’re For Sale
According to the announcement from Nismo, these four Grillz are one-offs. They’ll apparently be on display first at a London department store, and then will be shown at the actual Formula E event. Apparently Nismo and Loud Mouth are also doing a giveaway for a custom set of Grillz, but not specifically a Nismo set. As such, it seems like the two companies are only making these four examples.

However, the jeweler does make custom pieces, in addition to its regularly available line of products. So, we suppose you could request a replica of one of the Nismo designs. Or, if you’re not a die-hard Nissan fan, you could perhaps request the front end design of a different car, perhaps your personal car. Based on the Nissan designs, Loud Mouth should be more than capable of creating a faithful recreation for your chompers, perfect for matching your own ride.
