- Seyond’s total second-quarter LiDAR shipments reached about 271,100 units, up about 49% from the previous quarter.
- Robin series shipments came in at about 191,600 units, a surge of about 3,209% from a year earlier.
Seyond (HKEX: 2665), the LiDAR supplier to Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO), saw its second-quarter shipments climb to nearly five times the level of a year earlier, with its Robin series aimed at a broader range of vehicle models becoming the biggest growth engine.
Seyond said in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Monday that total shipments of its LiDAR products in the second quarter came in at about 271,100 units, up about 385% year-on-year and about 49% from the previous quarter.
Of that total, shipments of the Falcon series, its ultra-long-range main forward-facing LiDAR, reached about 77,800 units, up about 55% year-on-year and about 19% quarter-on-quarter.
Shipments of the Robin series came in at about 191,600 units, a surge of about 3,209% year-on-year and up about 66% from the previous quarter, accounting for about 71% of total shipments for the quarter.
Combined with first-quarter shipments of about 181,400 units, Seyond’s cumulative shipments in the first half of this year have topped 450,000 units.
The company said in the filing that alongside its rapid shipment growth, the applications of its LiDAR products are quickly expanding into diverse scenarios such as robotics and physical artificial intelligence.
Seyond announced in April this year that cumulative LiDAR deliveries had surpassed 1 million units. At the time, the company said its annual production capacity had reached 1.2 million units, with plans to add another 1 million units of capacity within the year, and it expected full-year shipments in 2026 to grow about 200%.
Founded in 2016, Seyond listed in Hong Kong in December 2025 through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company.
The company is the third LiDAR maker to list in Hong Kong, following RoboSense Technology (HKEX: 2498) and Hesai Group (HKEX: 2525).
Seyond’s revenue has long relied primarily on Nio, with its Falcon LiDAR used across all models of the Nio main brand, while the Robin series is used in models of Onvo, Nio’s mass-market sub-brand.
The company has made breakthroughs in diversifying its customer base, having secured mass-production project orders from 18 automakers and autonomous driving companies, including SAIC Volkswagen, GAC Group and Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863), as of April.
The explosive growth of the Robin series reflects, in part, the ramp-up of these new projects. In May 2025, Seyond announced a partnership with a leading Chinese automotive group to exclusively supply its 905 nm Robin series E1X product to multiple brands under the group.
Seyond’s strong performance has also benefited from robust overall growth in China’s ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) LiDAR industry.
Citing NE Times data, a Deutsche Bank team led by analyst Wang Bin said in a research note on Tuesday that China’s ADAS LiDAR industry shipments rose 87% year-on-year to about 447,000 units in May.
In the first five months of this year, cumulative shipments in China’s ADAS LiDAR industry reached about 1.8 million units, up 130% year-on-year, according to Deutsche Bank.
Of that, Seyond delivered 259,964 units, up 291% year-on-year, ranking fourth behind Hesai, Huawei and RoboSense.
Deutsche Bank said falling LiDAR prices have driven adoption in lower-priced vehicle models. For example, RoboSense’s blended average selling price for LiDAR fell 52% year-on-year in the first quarter to 1,336 yuan ($197), the lowest level since the company’s founding.
The price of some front-facing main LiDAR had fallen to as low as the 800 yuan level in 2026, according to the team.
In May, the penetration rate of front-facing main LiDAR in China’s passenger vehicle retail sales rose 9.5 percentage points year-on-year to 21.4%, according to Deutsche Bank.
Deutsche Bank also noted a reshuffling of share among top players, with Hesai and Seyond taking share from RoboSense and Huawei. In May, Seyond’s share of the front-facing main LiDAR market rose 1.1 percentage points year-on-year to 8.9%.
RoboSense’s robotics LiDAR sales reached 185,500 units in the first quarter, accounting for more than half of its total shipments for the first time.
