The next Beijing Auto Show will run from March 27 to April 5, 2027, extending the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China) with a specialized exhibition that broadens its scope to smart manufacturing and future mobility.
Organizers announced the full schedule at a press conference on Thursday. The event will mark the Beijing Auto Show’s first edition in an odd-numbered year, while the existing arrangement for Beijing and Shanghai to host comprehensive auto shows in alternating years will remain in place.
Called the “2027 Beijing International New-Quality Automotive and Future Smart Mobility Exhibition,” the 10-day event will take place at the China International Exhibition Center Shunyi New Venue and the Capital International Exhibition Convention Center (CIECC). Both venues hosted the 2026 Beijing Auto Show from late April to early May this year.
March 27-28 will be media days, followed by trade days on March 29-30. The event will open to the public from March 31 to April 5. The auto parts exhibition will run for 4 days, from March 27 to March 30.
Organizers said the exhibition will extend its coverage to automotive manufacturing and emerging technologies, adding displays of smart factories and digital production lines while expanding its new energy vehicle (NEV) and intelligent connected vehicle sections.
Smart mobility services, new energy transport solutions and intelligent robots will also feature at the event.
The exhibition will also showcase applications of artificial intelligence across the automotive value chain under the theme of “AI + cars.”
Organizers plan to encourage vehicle and technology debuts at the show and invite overseas buyers, dealers and industry organizations. Dedicated business matchmaking sessions will support Chinese automakers’ expansion into overseas markets, according to an announcement.
The announcement clarifies the format and schedule of the 2027 Beijing event, following months of industry speculation over whether the Beijing Auto Show would shift from a biennial to an annual schedule.
According to a joint statement released on September 7, the Shanghai Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the automotive industry branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade agreed after several rounds of talks to retain the existing schedule: comprehensive auto shows in Beijing in April of even-numbered years and in Shanghai in April of odd-numbered years.
The organizations also confirmed that the 2027 Beijing event would take the form of a specialized exhibition to coordinate industry resources and avoid overlapping functions.
The 2027 Shanghai Auto Show is scheduled for April 23 to May 2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). It is expected to cover 400,000 square meters and will add an embodied intelligence exhibition area.
The Beijing Auto Show was established in 1990. Its 2026 edition covered 380,000 square meters, attracted more than 1,000 exhibitors from China and abroad, and recorded 1.28 million visits, according to organizers.
The event displayed 1,451 vehicles, including 181 vehicle debuts and 71 concept cars.
Shorter automotive innovation cycles and a steady stream of new models and technologies are creating greater demand for exhibition and marketing opportunities, organizers said.
The exhibition is expected to cover 400,000 square meters, exceeding the 2026 Beijing Auto Show’s 380,000 square meters.
