We’ve counted a whopping 53 nameplates discontinued or put on hiatus for the 2027 model year, covering just about every brand, and every segment, from luxury coupes to electric trucks and even minivans.
Some of these decisions owe to a changing automotive landscape, others may point to restructuring at the company. Either way, if you want to be the very first owner of an Acura RDX or a Cadillac CT4, time is running out.

Acura
Acura is only putting a single model on hold for 2027.
- Acura RDX – Discontinued for Model Year 2027, to be Relaunched for 2028
The current version of the Acura RDX is being discontinued as Honda’s Ohio-based suppliers are struggling to produce some parts needed to build the car. At present, the plan is for the RDX to return in 2028 with a new two-motor hybrid system under the hood.

Audi
Audi is confirmed to be dropping two models for 2027, with the future of a third being unclear.
The Audi RS7 is being dropped thanks to lackluster sales and a lineup restructuring, and the Audi A6 will likely be taking a gap year in anticipation of a 2028 relaunch. The Audi RS3 is slated for discontinuation in Europe owing to changing emissions regulations, but Audi hopes to continue selling the RS3 in other markets.

BMW
BMW is scrapping six cars for 2027.
BMW has been cutting dead weight in order to pivot into its “Neue Klasse” era, Neue Klasse meaning, you guessed it, New Class. This represents a shift toward electrification, next-gen interior features, and a tech-forward approach to vehicle dynamics and handling.
20
Bugatti
Bugatti discontinuations almost don’t count. The brand only focuses on a single nameplate at a time, and once that car is done, it’s done.
The W16 Mistral had a limited 99-unit production run, and that was that. Bugatti now produces the Tourbillon.
19
Cadillac
Cadillac is dropping four nameplates for 2027 as it pivots to electric vehicles and sheds slow sellers.
The CT4 nameplate has been on a slide for a while, selling 9,144 units in 2023, then 6,208 units in 2024, and 5,571 units in 2025. The CT5 has been losing sales at a similar pace. GM is establishing Cadillac as its flagship EV brand, creating a perfect opportunity to dump some cars that have seen better days.
18
Chevrolet
Chevrolet is discontinuing just one nameplate this year, the hybridized Corvette E-Ray.
The E-Ray will be replaced by the Grand Sport X, featuring the same hybridized all-wheel drive configuration, with a 6.7-liter V8 engine contributing to a combined 721 horsepower.
17
Chrysler
Chrysler is dropping two models this year, leaving the Chrysler Pacifica as its sole offering into the new model year.
The Pacifica PHEV is being dropped as part of a company-wide decision on the part of Stellantis to phase out plug-ins. You can still buy a new Pacifica plug-in, but supplies are limited.
The Voyager looks to be an instance of an automaker not wanting to eat its own market share. That is, there’s really not enough support for the minivan segment in 2026 to justify one brand selling two nameplates.
16
Ford
The big story is the F-150 Lightning, which is being scrapped after costing Ford tens of thousands of dollars for every unit sold after a multi-billion dollar investment in production. The Ford Escape’s passing is actually proof that Ford isn’t giving up on electric just yet, converting the SUV’s Louisville assembly plant for production of EVs, including an electric mid-size pickup.
15
Honda
Honda is scrapping one model, and putting two others on hold for 2027.
The Ridgeline and the Civic Si are both taking a pause for some powertrain retooling, in order to keep up with ever-evolving emissions regulations. The $39,900 Honda Prologue is going into retirement as Honda hedges its bets on electric, following the cancelation of the EV tax credits.
14
Hyundai
Hyundai is dropping just one model for 2027.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6’s cancellation owes to a handful of factors, including slow sales, moving just 10,478 units in 2026, and tariffs, with the Korean-built EV proving to be too expensive to continue selling at a reasonable price thanks to a 25% import fee.
