Lexus and MSCHF are doing a bizarre art collab, turning two vehicles into sculptures that look like video glitches. A Lexus RZ 450e has been warped into a giant donut, and an RX 450h+ has been twisted into- I don’t even know … it looks like a stretched bolt. Or a drill bit. Both have the kind of surrealist wackiness MSCHF is famous for.
I’m not really cool enough to understand what MSCHF is actually about or why it exists. Even its Instagram feed is pretty chaotic and abstract. It’s officially described as a “Brooklyn-based conceptual art collective” in Lexus’ press release, so I guess they make art. Actually, that’s not so hard to fathom; what the hell am I talking about?
Anyway, the only context you really need is that it’s an outfit making freaky modern art. The Lexus project is called MOTOMORPHOSIS and is part of New York’s Armory Week art show. It sounds like they are, in fact, real-car-sized, and will probably look pretty cool in person.
Along with these images, Lexus also included a bit of press-release boilerplate text that, in this context, is obviously pretty funny: “The vehicles shown are special project vehicles modified with non-Lexus parts that may void warranty, negatively impact safety, and not be street legal.” Shoot!

If you’re in NYC this weekend and want to see these things IRL, the event’s open to the public at Chelsea Industrial (545 W. 28th St., New York, NY), Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a gallery opening party on Thursday at 7:00 in the evening.
