Leapmotor (HKEX: 9863) said Thursday that its cumulative global deliveries had surpassed 1.5 million units, as the Chinese EV maker backed by Stellantis NV (NYSE: STLA) keeps accelerating its delivery pace.
It took Leapmotor just 8 months to go from 1 million to 1.5 million units. The company had reached the 1 million milestone back in October 2025.
Leapmotor delivered its first vehicle in June 2019. It took 64 months to go from the first unit to 500,000, and the time was cut to 12 months from 500,000 to 1 million.

Leapmotor took part in the 2026 International Automotive Expo Hong Kong, which opened today, and launched the Lafa 5 electric hatchback in there, marking the model’s arrival in overseas markets beyond the Chinese mainland.
This was the first time Leapmotor’s full lineup appeared in Hong Kong. The booth also featured the A10 and D99 in limited-edition themed liveries.
Overseas markets are becoming a key growth engine for Leapmotor. The company exported more than 20,000 units in May and over 75,000 units in the first 5 months of the year.
Leapmotor’s business now spans more than 40 countries and regions worldwide, with over 2,000 sales and service outlets globally.
Senior vice president Cao Li said at today’s event that Leapmotor International, the joint venture between Leapmotor and Stellantis, has turned an annual profit, and that the company holds more than a 30% share of the battery EV market in Italy.
Looking ahead, Leapmotor plans to build a dual manufacturing-hub structure spanning Europe and Southeast Asia to support its global expansion.
Leapmotor’s expansion still comes with pressure on profitability. The company’s first-quarter 2026 results, released on May 15, showed revenue of 10.82 billion yuan ($1.6 billion), up 8.0% from a year earlier.
Its first-quarter gross margin, however, fell to 9.4% from 14.9% a year earlier. Changes in product mix and a reduction in strategic partnership business were the main reasons.
The company’s first-quarter net loss widened to 390 million yuan, compared with a loss of 130 million yuan in the same period of 2025.
Leapmotor has set a target of delivering 1 million vehicles for the full year of 2026. Continued product updates and the release of global production capacity are seen as key to reaching that goal.
The first Leapmotor model produced at Stellantis’ Gurun plant is the C10 SUV, to be followed by the B10 compact SUV.
