Aistaland, jointly created by GAC Group (HKEX: 2238) and Huawei, began pre-sales for the GX7 on Friday, expanding the brand from shooting brakes into the much larger family SUV (sport utility vehicle) market with its second model.
The GX7 is available only as an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), with pre-sales prices ranging from 249,900 yuan ($36,870) to 311,900 yuan across 3 variants. Aistaland has yet to announce an official launch date, though the model is expected to arrive this fall.
The rear-wheel-drive Ultra is priced at 249,900 yuan in pre-sales, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version is priced at 269,900 yuan and the triple-motor all-wheel-drive version at 311,900 yuan.
The GX7 measures 5,099 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width and 1,750 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,070 mm. Its main rivals include the Aito M7, Li Auto’s (NASDAQ: LI) Li L6 and Xiaomi’s (HKEX: 1810) YU7.
Smart technology is the vehicle’s most prominent selling point. The GX7 is among the first models to use Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 5 driver-assistance system and is equipped with 4 LiDARs and 38 sensing devices.
The hardware includes 1 896-channel, dual-optical-path, image-grade LiDAR and 3 high-precision solid-state LiDARs.
Aistaland said the GX7 uses an eight-fold redundancy architecture designed for L3 autonomous driving. Its driver-assistance features include parking space-to-parking space 3.0, remote parking after occupants exit and gesture-controlled parking exit.
The cockpit is among the first to use HarmonySpace 6 and features dual 15.6-inch screens. The rear seats can fold down in 20 seconds to create a seamless, 180-degree flat surface.
The GX7 also offers a 32-inch in-car projection display and a 46-inch outdoor projection display, as well as a Huawei Sound audio system with 21 independent speakers.
The vehicle uses a 1.5T range extender and offers 3 powertrain layouts: single-motor rear-wheel drive, dual-motor all-wheel drive and triple-motor all-wheel drive.
The triple-motor all-wheel-drive version has a peak output of 550 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The other 2 versions complete the sprint in 7.6 seconds and 4.9 seconds, respectively.
All variants use batteries from CATL (HKEX: 3750), with options including a 52-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and a 67-kWh ternary lithium battery.
The 800-volt platform supports 5C fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in less than 10 minutes. Depending on the variant, CLTC battery range is between 325 km and 385 km, while combined range is between 1,500 km and 1,580 km.
Aistaland is one of the brands Huawei has created with Chinese automakers under a new collaboration model. Huawei has a team stationed in Guangzhou that works alongside Aistaland staff, while GAC is responsible for vehicle development and manufacturing.
The brand’s first model, the GT7, was launched on June 26, though initial sales have remained limited. Aistaland sold 2,658 vehicles in July, with sales falling 58.62% month-on-month to 1,100 units in August, according to data released by GAC.
The SUV market targeted by the GX7 is far larger than the shooting-brake segment where the GT7 is in, making the new model crucial to Aistaland’s efforts to scale up sales.
