The Daily Brief wraps up the biggest stories and our exclusive reporting on the auto industry and car culture.

The Fast and Furious movie saga may be nearing the finish line, but the franchise will continue on the small screen for diehard fans who don’t think 12 movies (including the spinoff Hobbs & Shaw) are enough. Deadline reports that a live-action television show based on the franchise has been greenlit by Peacock, after being announced by the streaming service earlier this year. It’s due to start streaming sometime in 2028, according to the report.

Deadline reports that Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman will serve as writers, co-showrunners, and executive producers. Both were executive producers on other recent shows for Peacock and parent NBC. Vin Diesel will also reportedly serve as an executive producer on the unnamed show, along with Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Chris Morgan, and Jeff Kirschenbaum.

Diesel confirmed four Fast and Furious shows for Peacock at NBCUniversal’s Upfront event in New York City this past May. This first show may set up a whole other saga of recurring characters and chosen-familial drama. That original announcement was vague, and the new report doesn’t really clarify things, besides confirming that the Fast and Furious TV project is shifting into first gear.

“As you all know, we are very precious about these movies, but over the last decade, we’ve realized that the fans have wanted more; they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories,” Diesel said at the time of the announcement. “And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space.”

“That’s when I knew the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family will be protected in the TV space,” Diesel continued.

Meanwhile, the final movie in the main Fast and Furious storyline is scheduled to premiere March 17, 2028. Titled Fast Forever, it will feature the return of Brian O’Conner, the character played by the late Paul Walker, Diesel previously confirmed. With the first Peacock show scheduled to debut that same year, fans won’t have to worry about Fast and Furious withdrawal.
