    • The 10,000th Da Tang EV was delivered today, with the owner being Dong Lu, founder of China’s grassroots youth football development program Chinese Football Boy.
    • The Da Tang EV was launched on June 17, with a price range of 239,900 yuan ($35,330) to 309,900 yuan.

BYD’s (HKEX: 1211) flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle), the Da Tang EV, has reached its 10,000th delivery, about one month after the model’s launch.

The milestone vehicle was delivered on Thursday in Koktokay, Xinjiang, where BYD held a grand celebration event.

The owner is Dong Lu, a prominent Chinese football commentator and founder of the grassroots youth development program Chinese Football Boy.

The Da Tang EV was officially launched in China on June 17 with four variants, priced between 239,900 yuan ($35,330) and 309,900 yuan. It is the first D-class flagship SUV in BYD’s Dynasty lineup.

The model opened for pre-sales on April 24 at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. As of its launch, it had received more than 150,000 pre-orders.

The Da Tang EV is equipped with BYD’s latest second-generation Blade Battery, offering a pure electric range of up to 950 kilometers. BYD claims it is the full-size SUV with the longest range in the world.

The vehicle is built on a 1,000-volt high-voltage architecture and supports BYD’s flash charging technology, allowing it to charge from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.

The Da Tang EV comes standard with a roof-mounted LiDAR to support BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system, which enables assisted driving on both urban roads and highways.

The vehicle features a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout, emphasizing spacious seating. It measures 5,263 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm.

The launch of the Da Tang EV fills a gap in BYD’s product portfolio in the 300,000-yuan segment. In this segment, its local rivals include large SUVs such as Leapmotor’s (HKEX: 9863) D19 and the L90 from Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO).

The model’s delivery ramp-up comes as BYD’s sales are gradually recovering.

The company sold 403,472 new energy vehicles (NEVs) wholesale in June, up 5.46% year-on-year, marking the second consecutive month of year-on-year growth.

However, BYD remains under pressure in its home market, with domestic sales of 228,123 units in June, down 22.02% year-on-year.

In the first half of this year, the company’s cumulative global sales were 1,808,511 units, down 15.72% year-on-year.

A BYD executive previewed the electric 8-series Tang SUV, which is expected to launch in the second half of this year.
