    • The delivery ceremony for the 10,000th Da Tang EV will be held on July 23.
    • The Da Tang EV was launched on June 17 with a price range of 239,900 yuan ($35,420) to 309,900 yuan.

BYD’s (HKEX: 1211) new flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle), the Da Tang EV, is set to reach 10,000 deliveries about 1 month after its launch.

The milestone vehicle will be delivered in Koktokay, Xinjiang, on July 23, Lu Tian, general manager of sales for BYD’s Dynasty lineup, said Wednesday on Weibo.

The Da Tang EV was officially launched on June 17 with 4 variants priced between 239,900 yuan ($35,420) and 309,900 yuan. It is the first D-segment flagship SUV under BYD’s Dynasty lineup.

The model opened for pre-sales on April 24 at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. It had received more than 150,000 orders by the time of its launch.

The Da Tang EV measures 5,263 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,790 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,130 mm.

It features a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout, the first of its kind in China, with an emphasis on spacious passenger accommodation.

The model is powered by BYD’s latest second-generation Blade Battery and offers a maximum all-electric range of 950 kilometers. BYD calls it the world’s longest-range full-size SUV.

The Da Tang EV uses a 1,000-volt high-voltage architecture and supports BYD’s flash charging technology, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes.

It is available with either a single motor or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. The all-wheel-drive version produces up to 585 kW and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The Da Tang EV also features DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, road-preview functionality, a crab-walking mode and rear-wheel steering.

The model is equipped with a 3-nanometer cockpit chip and comes standard with roof-mounted LiDAR. It supports BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 driver-assistance system, enabling assisted driving on urban roads and highways.

The launch of the Da Tang EV fills a gap in BYD’s product lineup in the roughly 300,000-yuan segment.

Its local rivals include large SUVs such as Leapmotor’s (HKEX: 9863) D19 and the L90 from Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO).

The ramp-up in Da Tang EV deliveries comes as BYD increases production capacity for its second-generation Blade Battery and its sales gradually recover.

The company sold 403,472 new energy vehicles (NEVs) on a wholesale basis in June, up 5.46% year-on-year and marking its second consecutive month of year-on-year growth.
