    • The Buick Electra L7 BEV comes standard with 6C ultra-fast charging technology and offers a range of more than 700 km.
    • The model is the battery-electric version of the Electra L7 EREV, which was launched in China last September.

General Motors’ Buick brand began taking pre-orders for the battery-electric Electra L7 sedan in China on Friday, the latest move by the US automaker to advance its electrification transition in the world’s largest auto market.

Buick did not announce pricing for the model. Customers who place an order by August 19 can receive pre-order incentives, including a 1,000-yuan ($147) deposit that can be used to offset 6,000 yuan from the purchase price.

The Electra L7 BEV is built on an 800-volt high-voltage platform that Buick describes as the “safest in the industry.” All variants come standard with 6C ultra-fast charging technology, allowing the vehicle to add 450 km of range with a 10-minute charge.

The model uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL, with all variants offering a range of more than 700 km.

The battery-electric sedan was included in a regulatory catalog published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in May, paving the way for its market launch.

The sedan has a single-motor configuration with a maximum output of 282 kW (378 hp) and a top speed of 220 km/h, according to its regulatory filing.

The Electra L7 BEV has the same dimensions as the extended-range version, measuring 5,032 mm in length, 1,952 mm in width and 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. It is positioned as a mid-to-large sedan.

The vehicle features a road-preview chassis system that Buick says can detect surface bumps up to 20 meters ahead.

Its cabin is powered by Qualcomm’s SA8775P chip and features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch central display and a 50-inch panoramic augmented-reality head-up display.

For driver assistance, the model deeply integrates the R6 end-to-end large model from Chinese autonomous-driving startup Momenta. It supports seamless urban Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) and parking assistance for all types of parking spaces.

The extended-range Electra L7 was launched in China on September 28, 2025, with a limited-time starting price of 169,900 yuan.

The extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) has a 40.2-kWh battery pack, offering a battery-only range of 302 km and a combined range of 1,420 km.

Buick also launched the plug-in hybrid Electra E7 SUV in China in April, with a starting price of 154,900 yuan after incentives.

The robot currently handles core processes on the battery production line for the Buick Electra E7.
