Automotive Volkswagen’s funky electric tribute to the classic Microbus will be spending a little more time away from American showrooms. The Volkswagen ID.Buzz is now scheduled to return to the U.S. market as a 2028 model, pushing back a comeback that had previously been planned for the 2027 model year. Volkswagen expects the refreshed electric van to reach dealers during the first half of 2027, extending what has become a surprisingly long pause for one of the brand’s most recognizable new vehicles. The ID.Buzz originally arrived in the U.S. for the 2025 model year, but Volkswagen elected to…

The Volkswagen ID.Buzz electric minivan arrived in the US with a lot of fanfare. CarBuzz was there when Volkswagen launched it, bringing in journalists and influencers from all over the world to Southern California. Then followed advertising campaigns, including a skit featuring former SNL stars. Despite all that and the ID. Buzz actually being a great vehicle, it left the US market after just one model year. When is it coming back? The 2026 Relaunch Isn’t Happening ID.Buzz US…

Tesla is now building several hundred Optimus humanoid robots per week at Fremont, roughly 10 times its Q2 output, according to a new report. But the robots coming off the line still can’t handle generalized tasks – limiting their usefulness. The report also describes fragile hands, misaligned parts on the assembly line, and suppliers that can’t hold quality at volume. Those are the two problems that decide whether humanoid robots make money: generalization and reliability. Hundreds of robots, mostly for Tesla The Information reported this morning (paywalled) that Tesla went from a few dozen Optimus units a week during small-batch…
