Turns out, you may have been better with a hybrid all along. If you were all‑in on all‑electric five years ago with that Ford Mustang Mach‑E, Tesla Model 3, or Kia EV6, you might be feeling a little left out in the cold today. It wasn’t long ago that some folks felt like the incoming wave of EVs was the leading edge of a major revolution that would change motoring forever. EVs weren’t just coming — they were arriving in waves and reshaping the industry. Exterior action shot of a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-EFord A lot of weird and crazy…
I shouldn’t say too much about the specifics of the track test I was doing recently, because we haven’t written the story yet (we’ve found a generic enough picture for this piece to disguise it), but the short of it is that it involved one fast car and another that happened to be one of the quickest, most urgently responsive cars I’ve ever driven. Usually on track tests of multiple vehicles like this, testers like to start the day driving a slower car, to get a feel for the conditions, handling and circuit. Getting one’s eye in, so to speak. Like pitching…
Nearly all Canadians say rising living costs and economic uncertainty are putting pressure on their finances, prompting widespread changes in how households spend, save and manage money, according to a new nationwide survey by Harris & Partners. The survey of 2,664 Canadians found that 95 per cent say higher costs for essentials such as food, housing and utilities have affected their finances, while 94 per cent said broader economic factors, including inflation and interest rates, are influencing their financial plans. More than nine in 10 respondents reported that rising everyday expenses are creating financial strain, and a similar share said…
Automotive Drivers across the country could soon see higher costs for one of the most routine forms of vehicle maintenance as concerns over a potential motor oil shortage continue to grow. Reports from within the automotive industry suggest supply chain disruptions tied to ongoing conflict in the Middle East are beginning to affect the availability and pricing of key oil components, creating added pressure for dealerships, repair facilities, and parts suppliers. Oil changes have long been one of the most affordable and important maintenance services for keeping a vehicle running properly. But as global energy markets continue reacting…
The search engine’s definitions have been replaced with AI Overviews. Karissa Bell for Engadget Google appears to be running into some hiccups after the company began rolling out its updated, and even more AI-focused search experience at I/O 2026. Currently, searching for the words “disregard,” “stop” or “ignore” on Google no longer displays a snippet with a definition, and instead offers an AI Overview and a lot of blank space. Because users have complained about the issue on social media, and publications like TechCrunch and Macrumors have reported on it, even if you don’t get a…
Kia’s GT performance brand might be all but dead right now, but that doesn’t mean the company has given up on fast vehicles. Kia’s global planning boss has said that GT is still on the menu, and that as Kia looks at the future of the brand, it is looking at trying something it had given up on. The last time I was road-tripping, I only had one pain point: trying to re-inflate my tires with the janky coin-op air pumps at gas stations. I stopped at no less than three in bustling Los Angeles, CA, and none of them worked correctly. Hence why I (usually) don’t leave home without my own tire inflator. The Etenwolf…
Engineers at GM have come up with a new idea for improving what a vehicle can see around it. Picture the top-down view that a 360-degree surround camera can generate, but then combine the images from the cameras on your vehicle with the cameras on the vehicles around you. That’s a bigger, more detailed look, and it could be important for tech like self-driving cars. Teamwork Could Make The Autonomous Dream Work Chevrolet Super Cruise modeChevrolet A recently published GM patent describes what the automaker calls a “collaborative perception system,” and it uses it to create a “cooperative perception map.”…

It’s colourful too, from the blue plastic trim for the dashboard and doors (made from recycled drinks containers) to the natty fabric covering the glovebox. Combined with the large windows, this creates a bright and cheery ambience. What it can’t match is the 5’s premium feel and sense of solidity – although it feels robust enough. It’s all so easy to use, too, with physical controls for frequently used functions and straightforward infotainment that syncs seamlessly with your phone. Stick your head into the 5 and it all seems a little sombre at first, but even in entry-level Evolution guise…
