Marvel’s mishandling of its Blade reboot will likely go down as one of the studio’s biggest mistakes. There was a great actor in place to play the vampire hunter (Mahershala Ali), and a promising director set to take over the reins (Bassam Tariq). In retrospect, though, the disappointing demise of Blade might not be such a bad thing, because Tariq and Ali have collaborated on something much more interesting than a superhero reboot: the powerful hitman thriller Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. That was one of five movies I was able to cram into a very hectic third day at…
Petrovich9/Getty Images For the average home, standard Ethernet cable lengths max out at 328 feet. It reads like a weird number for a “standard” length, but 328 feet is the maximum length a rated connection speed can travel reliably. Of course, we’re not dealing in absolutes here. An Ethernet cable won’t always work perfectly at 328 feet and drop off into oblivion at 329 feet. But it’s the limit network installation standards use to account for things like signal loss, interference and general timing issues. Weird number or not, it seems relatively simple, right? Not exactly.…

The company has not responded to rumors of an equity partnership or strategic restructuring with FAW. Its Shanghai-listed shares have fallen 37.85% this year. Trading of GAC Group (SSE: 601238) shares was halted both in Shanghai and Hong Kong on Monday. A company employee said a major announcement would be released after the market close. This year marks the end of the line for several long-running manual icons, including the Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman, the Toyota GR Supra, and the BMW Z4. Enthusiasts are keenly hunting for the remaining three-pedal options in the new car market, and they know the window is closing. Today, only around two dozen models remain available with three pedals for 2026, down from nearly three dozen just five years ago in 2021. While manuals only account for 1.7% of total new-vehicle sales, the Subaru BRZ boasts a 90% manual take rate, the WRX sits around 85%, while 83% of Porsche 911…
In 1990, a four-door family sedan became the fastest production saloon on earth – and within two years, a tabloid-led public outrage had killed it dead. The Lotus Carlton didn’t die because it was bad. It died because it was too good, and the world wasn’t ready for it. Had things gone a little differently, though, there’s every chance it could have been loved, at least in its particular share of the market. Lee Zeldin, Chief Saboteur of the Environmental “Protection” Agency. Photo by SecretName101 on wikimedia The EPA plans to announce a new policy on Monday that will eliminate limits on power plant pollution, saddling Americans with another $120 billion in long-term health costs, in the latest step of Trump’s assault on Americans’ pocketbooks. The news comes from a New York Times report which cites two people familiar with the proposal. It would eliminate limits on greenhouse gas pollution, the kind of which has contributed to the wild weather much of the world is suffering from this summer, with record heat and…
The Units are a band I discovered in part thanks to No Dogs in Space. During their miniseries on The Screamers (another incredible band worth checking out), they mention synthpunk.org as one of their sources. And there’s no better way to get my attention than to combine two of my favorite things — punk rock and synthesizers. The site was down that day (it appears to be back up now), but I was able to access a version from July through the Wayback Machine. What greeted me was a bare-bones site with links for six bands, including The Screamers. But…
MagSafe is safer and simpler, but USB-C has a few advantages of its own. Ivan_Shenets/Shutterstock The latest MacBooks are known for featuring Apple’s clever charging solution: MagSafe. It’s one of those features that’s a make-or-break factor for some people. And it’s no wonder — these chargers attach magnetically and disconnect if the cable is pulled sharply, like when tripping over it. But Apple laptops can also be charged via USB-C, which has become an industry standard. While you can’t use both at the same time, they can both be great charging options depending on what you…
The forthcoming Euro 7 emissions regulations are pushing many automakers to cook up new powertrains and retool their lineups. As far as engines go, naturally aspirated V6s are starting to disappear, with another configuration possibly joining them soon: the oddball 5-cylinder. The situation has already led Audi to mull the decision to kill its high-performance five-cylinder engine, despite the company helping popularize the layout in automobiles decades ago. Let’s take a look at some of the brands responsible for putting the five-cylinder powerplant on the road before these engines disappear. Some of them even had their own twist on the…
Imagine getting a defective V8 replaced in a safety recall, only for its replacement to fail as well, which is exactly what happened to 26 vehicles fitted with GM’s 6.2-liter V8. GM also received another raft of complaints about engines that failed after getting the recall’s alternative oil-viscosity remedy, with the resulting investigation surging to almost one million vehicles. Meanwhile, the 4.0-liter V8 in certain Mercedes-AMG vehicles has its own factory documents that reveal weaknesses. And even if this company’s issues are nowhere near as serious as GM’s, these weaknesses challenge the notion that V8s are always bulletproof. GM’s 6.2L…
