Just days after we reported that Jeep was recalling more than one million vehicles over a potential fire risk, another Stellantis brand has issued a similar warning. This time, the recall affects the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid.

Though the scope is far smaller on this recall, affecting less than 20,000 vehicles, it’s not any less serious and owners are being warned to refrain from charging their minivans, among other things.

Owners Warned: No Charging, No Parking Indoors

According to a recall notice (NHTSA campaign number 26V362000) issued on June 4, 2026, certain Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid models from the 2020 through 2022 model years may be affected. The recall covers 17,277 vehicles, all of them built between August 5, 2020, and May 2, 2022. As a precaution, owners are being advised not to charge their vehicles and to avoid parking them indoors or near buildings until the issue has been addressed.

Stellantis’ design chief took us behind the curtain to see 20 new models coming to the US. Here’s what he had to say about each one.

This marks the third fire-related recall involving the Pacifica Hybrid. Previous recalls were issued in 2022 and 2024 for similar concerns. As in those cases, the problem is linked to the plug-in hybrid minivan’s high-voltage battery pack, which Chrysler says could experience an internal failure that may lead to a fire, even when the vehicle is parked and turned off. While the warning is serious, Chrysler estimates that only about 1% of the recalled vehicles are likely to be affected by the defect.

    Remedy Already In Place

To remedy the issue, owners will need to take their vehicles to a Chrysler dealership, where technicians will update the battery pack’s control module software. According to Chrysler, the updated software is designed to monitor the battery’s operating condition continuously and detect signs of a potential internal failure that could lead to a fire. In some cases, the entire battery pack may need to be replaced. All repairs will be performed free of charge.

Chrysler plans to begin notifying affected owners by mail on June 23, 2026. Owners seeking additional information can contact the automaker’s customer service line at 1-800-853-1403 or visit its recall website using the link below.

With the arrival of the 2027 Pacifica, Chrysler’s lineup has been cut in half.

Chrysler will no doubt be eager for this recall to finally resolve the Pacifica Hybrid’s recurring fire-related problems. The company has significant momentum riding on the heavily refreshed 2027 Pacifica, which now serves as Chrysler’s sole minivan offering after the Voyager was dropped in favor of a new entry-level Pacifica LX trim.

Stellantis seems to be plagued by recall issues at present, with 1.1 million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator models potentially defective and putting owners at risk of a fire. NHTSA Recall campaign 26V363 affects models made between 2021 and 2025, where a connector int he electric hydraulic power steering pump is susceptible to high resistance, which could cause overheating of combustible materials, melting insulation, and possible fires.

Although the latest recall has battery configuration at its heart, it’s not the first of this kind for the Pacifica – similar issues have persisted since around 2022, which doesn’t bode well for Stellantis as a whole, but feels particularly harsh for Chrysler, specifically. As it stands, Chrysler only sells two models in the USA right now – the Pacifica and it’s Voyager sibling – but has recently announced various new models under the Chrysler badge as part of a larger Stellantis expansion. This includes a refreshed Pacific, and two new crossover SUVs, the Arrow and Arrow Cross. If the automaker has any hope of drawing new buyers in, it will have to resolve such serious recall issues in a hurry.
