The New Bentley SUV Will Have A Little Bit Of Porsche In It

Bentley’s smaller second SUV is getting closer to production, and that means more testing and more spy photos. The CarBuzz spy photographers have just captured our best look inside the new model, revealing the usual ultra-luxurious appointments, some very familiar details, and a center screen that helps put the bent in Bentley. What does that mean? Let us explain.

Bentley’s New SUV Is High Tech

Take a look inside Bentley’s new urban electric SUV, which could be called the Barnato or Mayon based on previous trademark filings. The bright red and blue-gray steering wheel might jump out at you first, but keep on looking.

You might notice a dash display that is very familiar. It looks identical to the unit found in the latest Porsches, and it even has the same graphics. Will Bentley update those before launch to its own, or will the brand hope that nobody notices (or cares)?

The center screen is truly amazing. We’ve seen screens with gentle curves before, like the one in the digital dash. But this one bends it like Beckham, with a curve of close to 45 degrees in the middle of the seamless display.

The headlights are fake, but you can see much of the shape of the new Bentley SUV.

It is likely the same as the screen in the new Cayenne, as the two companies share development and costs, but the bent-ley screen seems to have a much smoother arc than Porsche’s. It does make sense that Bentley would make sure it has some of the best (and more expensive) tech, though smartphones have been able to do this for years.

There are other Porsche details around the cabin, but that’s not really new for Bentley. The company has been borrowing a few important but lesser-seen parts from its corporate siblings for years. Just ignore those and enjoy the massive expanse of real wood on the passenger side dashboard. At least until it is inevitably replaced with yet another screen.

The exterior camouflage is still in full effect, which means we can’t tell you anything new about the design of the vehicle. Even the headlights are thoroughly disguised; what looks to be the lamps are really stickers with a few tiny holes for the actual light to exit. We can confirm that this car is a shade of light blue.

Bentley’s New Small SUV Has No Problem Getting Sideways

Bentley’s new SUV is on track, and it looks like it can be a lot of fun.

Bentley’s first electric SUV is based on the same platform as the Porsche Macan and Cayenne EVs. Thanks to that architecture, it could deliver well in excess of 1,100 horsepower. Bentley might not out-do the Cayenne EV with its smaller model, but we can’t imagine Bentley not aiming to out-power the Macan Turbo Electric, which maxes out at 630 horses with launch control.

CarBuzz Insight – Why This Matters:

Bentley has long been a leader in luxury with high-end finishes, custom materials, and details you won’t find anywhere else. This time, with its first EV, the new screen shows Bentley is leaning into tech as well, an area where it has generally been conservative. EV buyers are already generally very tech forward, so this move shows that the storied brand is looking to boost its appeal with those customers, not just aiming for the subset of its usual buyers who don’t want to pay a congestion charge or want a tax credit.
